My vision: to achieve an optimal weight for long term health, supported by regular, challenging exercise and wholesome foods that fuel my body.
My philosophy: Suck it up Buttercup! Change=hard work. Consistency and determination will only get you half way, you still have to break a sweat.
2016 goal -lose 16 lbs (and then do it again). It's going to be a crazy year, buy a new house, fix whatever needs fixing, pack, move, unpack again: I'm going to need a lot of energy! That means I better eat well, hit the gym 3-4 days a week and get to bed on time. LET'S DO THIS!
2nd half of 2015 goal (after slacking off for the first 7 months, cycling thru HFCS addiction/depression over and over and over) -deal with my grief by focusing on getting back into a healthy routine 3 days a week at the gym, eating clean and taking gentle care of myself.
2015 result -ended the year right about where I started it
2014 goal - take care of myself, get back to the regular 4 day/week exercise routine, cook more, eat out less
2014 result -different sort of chaos than last year, packing/moving/selling my house occupied my attention for the 2nd half the year, slid back into HFSC addiction and gained 15lbs back as a result.
2013 goal - break thru the 200 lb line and enter one-derland!
2013 result - CHAOS! My life took a sharp left turn when my Mom got sick in January, 7 weeks in the hospital and the rest of the year in a Nursing Home where she may stay for quite a while yet. I gained back 20lbs
2012 goal - go from being a walker to a runner.
2012 result - I can actually run! Not very far or very long, but I can do it. About a quarter mile non-stop was my personal best this year. New lowest weight 222lbs.
October 2011 - I love what this blogger wrote so much that I had to post it where I'll see it all the time! I have determined that High Fructose Corn Syrup is poison. POISON!
Anything containing HFCS is not food. Don't eat it, don't drink it, and for heaven's sake don't BUY it!
It's E-V-I-L. Period.
HFCS effects you on a molecular level. It gets in your brain. It lights up all your feel-good receptors like Times Square on New Years Eve, and then when you crash, you become a desperate drug addict looking for another fix, then another, then another. I'm not too keen on regular corn syrup either.
My current journey down weight loss hill began again May 17, 2011 Never, never, never give up is my motto. It's not how many times you fall down, it's how many times you get back up!
I just want to lose 10%, and then lose another 10% and keep doing that over and over.
I topped out at 311 lbs back in 2002 and have been as low as 228 in 2008. But I was back up to almost 270 after a long, grey frustrating winter of bingeing. I'm continually learning about myself from my failures. This time I'm making a point to avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup, wherever it hides.

I don't know how long this will take as I've lost 50-60 lbs a couple times before, and then stalled for months on end. Sometimes it's an attack of life that gets in my way, sometimes I get in my own way. This time I'm doing it the Spark way!

- wear jeans again for the first time in nearly 20 years
-dash down stairs, one foot after the other
- be able to pull my knees up to my chin and wrap my arms around my legs!
Eat Clean by cutting out all Corn Syrup/ High Fructose Corn Syrup
Eat less. Eat better.
Work out more.
Gear up gently to a 4 day work out plan
Get outside and garden or walk on off days,
Practice stretching & yoga and hooping!
Have been playing in the SCA since A.S. 25, Kingdom of AEthelmearc, Barony of Thescorre. Love sewing historical clothing, and I'm looking forward to remaking my wardrobe as I lose!
