Update September 2012,
Well, I did lose weight this past year! I went from 189 last November to around 164 now. One thing that I think helped was going lower carb. Last fall, I was eating peanut butter on sandwich thins for breakfast and bean burgers for lunch. Even though I was tracking calories and staying within my range, my weight wouldn't budge. Now, I eat eggs or yogurt and berries for breakfast and protein and veggies for lunch and things seem to be going much better. My husband is on-board with Paleo, so dinners are pretty low-carb too. Lately ,I've been doing more strength training which also seems to be speeding things up. I still would like to get to 145-155. I know that these last 10-20 pounds will be challenging, but I'm definitely in it for the long haul. However long it takes. I'm feeling a lot better these days (physically and mentally), so that helps. As for exercise, now that I'm back to having a crazy-busy schedule, I'm trying to stick to short but intense workouts during week. MWF I do an upper-body strength training dvd with Kelly Coffey. T and Th, I do HIIT intervals on the elliptical. On weekends, I do longer cardio workouts (spinning class, elliptical, step aerobics, turbo jam, zumba etc). Additionally, I like to be active with my family (bike riding, skating, skiing, kayaking, etc).
The holiday season will be here before you know it. I was pretty vigiliant last year. I know that I can do it again.
I've lost about 25 pounds and have kept it off for the past couple of years. However, last fall I lost some ground. Between work stress, holidays and a death in the family, I have gained several pounds and have gone back up a size. I'm very distressed about this. I'm tired of worrying about my weight and my health and my never-fitting wardrobe. I just want to conquer this. I feel desperate, back in the same boat.
I have more time to devote to getting in shape this fall and I don't have a lot of stress right now, but the scale doesn't seem to budge. I have been exercising alot at the gym and tracking my calories closely, but right now nothing seems to be working. I'm going to take measurements for a while instead so as not to get too discouraged. Well, here they are
October 8, 2011 Waist = 36, Hips = 44
My goals are to lose 30-40 pounds, exercise consistently at a moderate level of intensity , look good doing zumba and to learn to manage my stress.
I'm recording my calories on my fitness pal. . Additionally, I'm trying various stress-management techniques such as deep-breathing and visualing calm scenes.
I'm from Pittsburgh. I'm married with a 6 year-old daughter.
