Baby-Steps

My story . . .

I was thin in high school . . . you know, wear-the-slinky-red-dress-to-the-prom-thin . . . and I I don't really ever remember thinking about my weight. I wasn't a size 2 or anything, but I could pretty much wear what I wanted and feel good about myself.

College--not so bad . . . I might have put on the ol' Freshman 15, but I walked everywhere, lived on the 2nd floor of a building with no elevator, and still had a pretty high metabolism, I guess. Even ...
My story . . .

I was thin in high school . . . you know, wear-the-slinky-red-dress-to-the-prom-thin . . . and I I don't really ever remember thinking about my weight. I wasn't a size 2 or anything, but I could pretty much wear what I wanted and feel good about myself.

College--not so bad . . . I might have put on the ol' Freshman 15, but I walked everywhere, lived on the 2nd floor of a building with no elevator, and still had a pretty high metabolism, I guess. Even when I got pregnant as a Junior, my weight gain was healthy and I was so fortunate to be able to get it back off pretty quickly after my daughter was born.

When I graduated, I got a job, yep, you guessed it . . . sitting in front of a computer. So guess when I gained weight . . . well . . . constantly, I suppose. The next thing I knew, I was up 20 lbs . . . then 40 . . . then 80!?!?! When did that happen??

I've hovered in the same 10-20 lb area now for years. I'm one of those body types that sort of holds weight everywhere, so although I'm very overweight, most people don't guess by how much. I'm kind of thankful for that, but I know it's not healthy. I finally decided that I wanted to be healthy and be a better role model for my daughter.

I was so excited to find SparkPeople--it's a great motivator and tracking tool for me, and I'm learning to take small steps to make big changes. I've decided . . . this is my time!
