I joined SparkPeople for guidance on how to get fit and maintain my weight on a reduced sodium diet. I was surprised to find so many valuable resources here. l'll be up to my neck in information for a while! I'm slowly wading my way through it, though, and having a good time of it. If you love to cook, you and I have lots in common and I really enjoy sharing recipes. I hope to make some great friends on SparkPeople!

Fitness Minutes: 164,456

My Goals:
My primary goal is to become physically fit. I've always had a somewhat sedentary job sitting at a computer and I've finally decided I need to get the proverbial "lead" out!
As a part of that goal, I want to learn more about healthy nutrition.


My Program:
I'm starting out with walking 30 minutes 3-5 days a week, sometimes with my husband who would also like to be more physically fit. I'm trying to incorporate a strength training regimen into my exercise schedule but I'm still trying to learn what would be the best choices for me. I'm logging the food I eat daily for the time being and I'm surprised to find my diet isn't quite as balanced as I thought it was. I have a lot of reading to do here!



Personal Information:
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I now live on the shores of Lake Erie, where the snow shovels are big and the boots are high. My husband and I have two crazy cats, which makes it difficult to travel. However, we've managed to visit 42 of the 50 states, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Europe and many trips to various Canadian provinces.


Other Information:
I love to read non-fiction and I read my Bible every morning. Other interests and hobbies include astronomy, photography, cooking and oil painting. I also enjoy volunteer work at the local zoo one day a week and I'm a member of the Humane Society.

    Bev, what a nice surprise to get a message from you.
    After reading your page I found that we have a few things in common. I am a painter as well. I mostly paint people or large single flowers although I have done a still life or two and plan to do more. They no doubt will always contain food. We love to travel too. We plan to take each grandchild on a big trip. We have taken 3 out of 10 so far. We also love to travel just the two of us. I sometimes travel with my girlfriends from High School. We had a big trip to Italy a year ago. Fortunately thus far our granddaughter (who is the only one left in our home town) loves cats and has always watched them for us when we have traveled in the past. She is hoping to get into a four year nursing program. Although there is one in the area, We hope that she goes north to be closer to one of her aunts and her parents and twin.

    Well I love to cook and bake and at the moment we have 5 cats. Our adult granddaughter moved in a month ago and brought 2 of her own to add to our 3. It is starting to look like cats live here and people just visit.
