2017 was a rocky year for me - though only in First World terms. It marked the huge change from workin' grl to Laidy of Leeeezure. Yes. I retired in September (like, duh, who hasn't heard me'n'TheBrains yammer on about that ad nausea). Getting to retire was a gift. Being retired is a joy. But getting to retirement was a hard struggle and I wonder if I made it harder than it had to be. Oh well. The good news. I got there At Goal! Yippee.

2018 will be a year of reflection and regrouping for me. I am sure goals will arise. I am sure new pathways will tempt, new horizons will inspire. But what they'll be ... not so sure. I had a spate of medical check-ups in Dec. and Jan and it turns out I am a good bit shorter than I was. 1.25 inches in fact. I am thinking of dropping my goal weight down a few pounds. I want to become a better artist. I do want to take a fancy schmancy vacation. But mostly I am just going to savor this first time without a schedule or a boss since I was 5 years old. Feels durn good.

2017 GOALS

1. Be within 2 lbs of 150 every month of the year

2. 2 upper body strength training workouts, 20-30 minutes long, every week





My Program:
Still workin' it out but:

1. Take my time

2. Follow the Weight Watcher Program and attend meetings

3. track track track what I eat - any way I can, every day

4. Drink enough water - 6 glasses a day

5. Eat plenty of vegan meals - they're delicious!

6. Start out with a smaller portion. It might be all I really want!

7. Keep active every day - and do formal exercise 4 or more days each week

    Visual art is definitely practice and talent - but I often find that a drawing or painting takes on a life of its own at some point. Really, I'll be working on something and somehow the painting itself takes over and becomes something other than what I had in my head. Rather like characters writing their own parts in a book or movie - I've heard authors say that. I find the same is true in visual art.
