Am still hanging in with my dieting which am hoping will become so automatic, I keep eating well for life! Getting close to a month and I am finally getting around to checking out all the teams I've joined. Whew! I think I went a bit overboard. This is a lot of work: commenting on teams, tracking calories, reading all the articles, but I also use my cell phone to read them when I'm waiting for an appointment or such. Getting close to a month and I am finally getting around to checking out all the teams I've joined. Whew! I think I went a bit overboard. This is a lot of work: commenting on teams, tracking calories, reading all the articles, but I also use my cell phone to read them when I'm waiting for an appointment or such. That way, I take the time to enter what I eat everyday, so I see just how much I shove into into my mouth. Counting every nut and pretzel can be a pain, but I'm gradually learning what portion sizes I'm consuming and amazingly, it does help to realize a pattern...

My Goals:
To make it through the day realizing what and how much I'm eating as well as deciding if it is really good for my body. I've pretty much given up fried foods because of acid reflux. Just not worth the symptoms!

My Program:
Eating more fruits and veggies; cutting out fried foods, grilling or baking instead. Planning on eating fish twice/week, one dinner/week meatless replaced by beans, nuts or meatless pasta. On scales at first everyday then once/wk. I'm commited to following Spark calorie tracker and trying to be more active.

Thanks Spark friends for the words of support. It means a lot that I'm not alone on this journey of self-respect and self-discipline. I hurt my back a long time ago, was told I'd never walk again. But I did! Whew! It was the hardest thing I ever did. Couldn't eat for a month because of the stomach suction, so when I finally could eat, I went from a skinny minny to someone I didn't recognize. The change in self-image, esp since I was just turning 30, was hard to take. Ever since, I have battled with my weight control, but not seriously like now. At this point, I must lose weight for my health and for my poor back! Again, thanks gals for your Spark friendship. emoticon

Thanks for adding me as a friend. By the way since I have lost some weight and have been doing the exercises my lower back is getting better. Slowly but surely - hope you get healthy and no more pain.

Hiya, Bella! I just saw your comment on the fitness thread, the one about my program for what I 'can't do,' lol... For what it's worth, my lower back became a problem just after the first of the year. I was (shall we say) a bit over zealous about my new exercise regimen and kind of (ahem) threw myself into it, while throwing my back out. Anyhow, what I did was Google 'back exercises'* and sorted thru the responses. I came up with a shortlist that I've been doing faithfully every morning these last 8 weeks or so, and I have to admit, I was skeptical, but it is really helping. So you might want to find some exercises (stretches, yoga, etc) that specifically target your back to help strengthen it before you work up to more general fitness. :-)
