Still climbing after all these years

Welcome to my little corner of the Spark universe. I'm not sure if I'm still climbing or starting to climb again. It doesn't matter. Life is a journey, and every day starts with a single step (and hopefully adds up to over 10,000 on my Spark activity tracker). The friends I've met on SparkPeople are the best part of the journey.

After many years of taking care of others, it's now time to take care of myself. I quit dieting several years ago. While it hasn't gone all that well, dieting didn't either. Step by step I've managed to make major changes to my diet over the years. I believe these changes will gain momentum and I will feel better, lose weight and improve my health.

� Eat a mainly plant-based diet (VB6)

� 40 - 80 minutes of aerobic activity daily

� 30 - 40 minutes of stretching and yoga daily

� Participate in the seasonal 5% Challenge

� Stay connected to my Spark Friends

� Change my program regularly to stay engaged


Personal Information:
I am an 50-something father of one. I lost my wife to cancer in 2014 after battling the disease for 11 years. I live and work in the Seattle area.

I wasn't going to count the horseback riding, but I was simply amazed how many calories Spark People gave for that activity! My muscles sure felt it afterwards. (or maybe that was just bruises...)
