Winter 2017 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment:

As I get ready to start the 5% Winter 2017 Challenge, I continue to suffer from sciatic pain and bursitis after over a year which has definitely interfered with my motivation to do my regular exercise. However, a few months ago I received two shots for the bursitis which helped temporarily. I now have an appointment scheduled for January 23rd to get another shot in my right hip. I am determined to persevere and get back into my regular fitness routine and show the scale who is boss.. My exercise plan for the Winter challenge is:
1. Monday/Wednesday/Friday - 30 minutes or longer cardio, 10 minutes or more stretching, and 60 minute yoga class.
2. Tuesday/Thursday - 30 minutes or longer cardio, 10 minutes or more stretching, and 40 minutes or more strength.
3. Saturday - 30 minutes cardio and 10 minutes stretching.
4. Sunday - 20 minute walk and 10 minutes stretching

Winter 2017 5% Challenge Nutrition Plan:
My pledge for the Winter 2017 5% challenge is to achieve my weight loss goals. I plan to eat clean at least 75% of the time by limiting processed foods and sugar. I will eat more vegetables and fruits and less white carbs. I am here to inspire, support and motivate others in their journey while receiving the same on my journey.

On my team page I will daily record my exercise and Living the Good Life points, and I will weigh and record my weight weekly. I will check with my team at least three times per week. I will visit team members' pages and blogs as much as I can.

I will STAY FOCUSED and NEVER GIVE UP!

Personal Information:
My name is Barbara, aka Barbie. I live in Roseburg, Oregon. I am 66, widowed on November 12, 2013. I have three children, a grown daughter who has a 23 year old daughter and a 17 year old son; a grown son who has a son who is 19 and working in the woods as a logger, and I had one son who died 23 years ago at the age of 15+ in a downhill skiing accident. I retired just a couple of months before my husband became so ill, so now that he is gone, I am still learning how to fill my days, and fix meals for one.


Other Information:
I got a dog after my husband's death, a Padderdale Terrier (looks like a miniature black lab), named Marv in memory of my husband who had a collection of Marvin the Martian things.
I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, card making, quilting, and knitting. I am learning how to take care of the lawn and garden which were Bill's pride and joy. I love the sunshine and being outdoors.

    It's January! And, if you're like many, that means resolutions are in full force, you're workin' the scale, getting your body moving, sleeping more, and maybe even working less (yeah, right!). Congratulations! Stick with it! But, remember, there are good and bad ways to get in shape. Here is a tip to ensure your efforts pay off -- the healthy way.

    Make friends with the scale. emoticon There's a wide chasm of opinion between those who support using a scale, and those who do not. Many physicians say it's a smart way to monitor the effect our eating habits have on our weight, while weight loss consultants and those who study body image, would rather you toss it in the trash, or use it for anaerobic exercise. The answer seems to lie in the middle.

    Either way......BE A WARRIOR THIS WEEKEND!
