Fall 2017 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment:

As I get ready to start the 5% Fall 2017 Challenge, I continue to suffer from sciatic pain and hip bursitis after over two years which has definitely interfered with my motivation to do my regular exercise. I have had some shots which only temporarily relieved the pain so now I am trying to establish a habit of stretching and strengthening to help alleviate the pain. I am determined to persevere and get back into my regular fitness routine and show the scale who is boss.. My exercise plan for the Fall 5% challenge is:
1. 30 minute cardio daily Monday through Friday.
2. 15 to 30 minutes stretching and strengthening exercises
provided by my doctor for my pains.
3. 60 minute yoga class twice per week.
4. 15 to 30 minutes of strength twice per week.
5. Minimum of 15 minutes movement on the weekends

Fall 2017 5% Challenge Nutrition Plan:
My pledge for the Fall 2017 5% challenge is to achieve my weight loss goals. My nutrition plan during this challenge will be stay within my calorie range daily as well as eating foods touted to be helpful in getting my cholesterol to a healthier number. Water is 64 to 104 ounces daily.. I am here to inspire, support and motivate others in their journey while receiving the same on my journey.

On my team page I will daily record my exercise and Living the Good Life points, and I will weigh and record my weight weekly. I will check with my team at least three times per week. I will visit team members' pages and blogs as much as I can.

Personal Information:
My name is Barbara, aka Barbie. I live in Roseburg, Oregon. I am 67, widowed on November 12, 2013. I have three children, a grown daughter who has a 24 year old daughter and an 18 year old son; a grown son who has a son who is 20 and working in the woods as a logger, and I had one son who died 24 years ago at the age of 15+ in a downhill skiing accident. I retired just a couple of months before my husband became so ill, so now that he is gone, I am still learning how to fill my days, and fix meals for one.

Other Information:
I got a dog after my husband's death, a Padderdale Terrier (looks like a miniature black lab), named Marv in memory of my husband who had a collection of Marvin the Martian things.
I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, card making, quilting, and knitting. I am learning how to take care of the lawn and garden which were Bill's pride and joy. I love the sunshine and being outdoors.

Quote by Coach Nicole: Exercise is not a means to an end. It's a tool for living your best life.

emoticon GET RID OF LOVE HANDLES emoticon

Don't spend your day feeling guilty for what you consumed on Thanksgiving! GET MOVING!!! Whether you call it a muffin top, love handles, belly fat or spare tire, you are describing the fat around your midsection. When abdominal muscles are tight and defined it looks great but in most cases excess fat seems to conjugate at your middle and it’s big and flabby. If you think that working out on abdominal machines like the ones sold on TV or in the gym will rid your body of love handles - - think again. You can not spot reduce, you can’t do thousands of crunches and expect to get a flat, tight abdomen. Belly fat is exactly that - - fat around your belly and the way to lose fat is through aerobic exercise and a low calorie, low fat diet. You CAN drop those love handles by losing weight through cardio exercise and continue toning your abs through safe abdominal crunches.
