Hello, All! I hope you are enjoying this site and reaching your goals. I am a grandma with 4 granddaughters and one grandson. We live in the country and I am an avid reader, puzzle doer and hand crafter. I enjoy making things for my children and grand children. Occasionally, I do a local craft show.
I have done various jobs but have enjoyed crafting and teaching Bible studies the most.
DH and I are planning to be retired by the end of 2015. I stopped doing my home health business at the end of 2014. Was able to upload a song to You Tube that I wrote and sang for my husband in Oct 2014. Looking forward to a great 2015!
My short term goal is to find a plan that will make me be healthier and look better. I want to be able to fit back into some of my "skinny" clothes. My long term goal is to make a total commitment to living a healthy lifestyle.
Spark People has helped me get back to a daily thinking of what I can do to personally improve my health. My plan includes tracking everyday, fitting in as much walking as I can do, and keeping in touch with my Spark Friends, exchanging encouragement with each other.
We live in PA, the great Keystone State. I am a wife, mother of two, and grandmother of five. I write, sing, and enjoy crafting.

Hi Barb. I hope you do do Keto. I truly believe that it is the healthiest way to eat. I will try to answer your questions. The fiber comes from veggies such as cabbage, broccoli, kale etc. I don't do much with fruit at this time until I get to my goal weight. Then I plan on adding some fresh fruit back in. I have even done metamucil when the team was tracking fiber... but I don't really feel as if I need to do that. It was really was a bit much for me. My most frequent fat is coconut oil, followed by butter. I make a Tai type soup base with full fat coconut milk which adds the needed fat also. Most people eat cheese often to up the fat, but alas, I find that I have a food sensitivity to even that (I can't do wheat or corn either). The whole idea of keto is to train the body to start burning fat for energy... after all, aren't fat stores suppose to be used for future calorie needs? My fat percentages are around 70%. protein is around 25% and carbs are as low as I can go. Usually they fall around 3-5%. Sorry this is so long. I hope it helps. You are so sweet to ask about my sewing...I am almost ready to start. I needed a cutting board to put on the dining room table and had to order it from Amazon. I have my first yard of fabric washed but not pressed and ready for the kid apron. I am thrilled to start out on my sewing journey. Funny thing, in my hope chest, I found a pillow almost sewed, with interfacing. I don't remember sewing it with a machine but I guess I did! I am going to learn sewing and then pass it along to my four-year-old. She helped me pick out the fabric and we will do some things together. I would like to become more active with the Sewing team...if I forget to come over, just pop by and say hello! I am a teacher and with two small kids..I get a bit distracted!
