Realized in the summer of 2008 that I needed to make some changes in my life or I would be on the road to becoming a diabetic like my mother. In August 2008 signed up for a program with Isagenix and through sheer determination have accomplished a significant weight loss. In August 2008 signed up for a program with Isagenix and through sheer determination have accomplished a significant weight loss. Coupled with this program and through the addition of exercise reduced my weight from about 270 down to 185 before gaining weight back to just over 200 pounds. When I signed up with SparkPeople at the beginning of March 2009 I was at 205 and had a plan to lose another 30 pounds. Although I have reached a plateau and have actually regained some of my weight, I continue to work towards my goal and I find the information on the sparkpeople web site to be very helpful. With this information and my determination I hope to maintain a healthy lifestyle going forward.

My Goals:
My initial goal was get my BMI down to under 25. This meant that I needed to lose up to 100 pounds from my starting weight in the summer of 2008 of 270 pounds. This was essentially met by 2010 when I managed to get my weight down to 180. Unfortunately since retiring in 2011 I have gradually gained nearly 30 pounds which I need to release again.


My Program:
I utilize the nutrition tracker and fitness tracker to monitor my progress. Exercise has been an important part of my plan and I currently walk at least 8 miles each day either outside or on the treadmill. I try to live a healthy lifestyle but have had difficulty maintaining my weight.

As for nutrition I did utilize the Isagenix system which is a meal replacement and nutrient plan; however, this was becoming expensive and I cut back in 2013. I monitor my food intake and to ensure that I get the proper mix of calories, fat, carbohydrates and proteins recommended by the nutrition tracker. I do not concern myself if I exceed the limit on occasion (usually when I eat out) as I know that I get back on track. Unfortunately I have been eating somewhat in excess and gained back some of the weight that I previously lost.

Other Information:
My favorite activities include walking and hiking in the mountains, visiting historic sites and family. Most memorable vacation was a one month trip to China and Hong Kong in the spring of 2008.

In 2013 I travelled across Canada from Vancouver to Halifax mostly by train but also used bus, car and airplane travel when necessary. Stopped in several cities to visit attractions. This trip took nearly 2 months to complete. My wife and I enjoyed our time together and hope to make other trips in coming years.

Saw your comment on having shoulder pain, and was wondering if you are a Gemini? I read astrology charts for people, and Gemini people have problems with their shoulders, hands, and lungs (they should never smoke).

I love that you release so much weight and that you have worked to stay healthy. That certainly is the key factor.
