I don't use the blogs, comments, or emails- I'm still trying to get the hang of that part of sparkpeople.com. You left a comment on my spark page and this is the only way I can figure out how to respond. I've been going to school at EMU for Special Education and working as a technical writer - I sat on my butt from early morning until late at night - 7 days a week getting bigger and unhealthier. A few things happened - My sister told me about Sparkpeople and I started reading the nutrition articles and educating myself about eating, fitness, & motivation. I got a rescue dog from Petsmart on Ann Arbor Saline RD - which forced me to walk 3-4 times a day. I lost my writing job and got a job at Meijers - which was terrible pay, but I ended up walking through 2 pedometers. I learned to do the exercises from the tutorials in the fitness section and I also got a rebounder (they have one on clearance for 19.00 at Meijers). My husband fixed my breakfasts and packed my lunches - otherwise I would overeat or eat junk food. I slowly started losing weight and feeling better. I still have a lot to go.
Some of the workers at Meijers kept asking me if I was pregnant - which upset me so badly that I started overeating and I gained ten pounds before I got a grip on the situation.
I applied for work in Salt Lake City and I will be leaving in the morning for interviews otherwise I would have offered to meet you and any other Ann Arborites to go walking. I can see on your bar that you have been making progress - so keep up the good work and read those nutrition articles! Thanks for writing and I'll keep in touch! Carolyn

Hi....just wanted you to know I read your post on the "But what if I can't lose weight?" Blog. I am soooooo where you are. It IS very frustrating and I so want to give up at times. I'm not sure about you...but I am not giving up. there has got to be an answer out there for people like us that have no obvious physical reasons why we can't lose weight and feel some sort of accomplishment like other people. Hang in there! At least we know now that there are alot of us out there! emoticon
