I'm a 69 year old schizophrenic (half clown and half serious) and a pig-headed philosopher. This equation equals a depressed person working hard at not being so.
It's not too bad, actually; no excuses; get up, get moving. !

My Goals:
To be more and more open to life and shake off fears. AND, to get to 125 pounds and KEEP it that way. To resist thinking "I'm just fine" and falling into complacency about my health like I've done so many times before.

My Program:
I have stopped going to my yoga/pilates class so that I can save on gas money. I try to stretch several times a day and do the things I have learned from all my teachers.

Though I lost weight using the nutrition tracker when I first joined SP I don't believe I was really eating well. And watching the numbers with every meal became a self-centered hassle and a bore. After meeting my goal weight I stopped using the tracker and gained back more pounds than I had lost. I had started at 132, dropped to 118 and then, over time went up to 139. I looked for another way and found it in combining two eating plans: The Paleo Diet and the No S Diet. The two plans are "meant" for each other. One is about what, and what not, to eat and the other is about when to eat. This program feels natural and healthy and the pounds are coming off again

I don't work out with a PT any more because of financial considerations. I try to exercise at home but fail a lot; get too busy with life.

Personal Information:
I was born in southern California in 1946. I grew up there in and around (glad-to-not-live-there-anymore) Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. I was a hippy and it was a good experience. I ran away from all that in my late 20's seeking the beauty and peace of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I re-visited LA 20 years later and found it was just as bad as I had remembered and even worse.

I lived in the mountains of Colorado for 13 years. There, I met and married my husband. We moved to Oregon in '86 and here we are still. We have been married 33 years.

I love Oregon and miss Colorado.

We own our own portrait business and my husband also is an inventor/designer. Dh is the photographer/artist/engineer and I am the bookkeeper/cook/housekeeper-come-lately. My husband does all the worrying and I do all the shopping!!

I live 20 miles outside a major city in the Pacific Northwest on 3.5 acres with 2 cats, 5 ducks, 2 chickens and a lot of unwanted rats ou

Other Information:
I am a believer in Jesus as the incarnation of God and have been an active member of several church groups over the years. I became a believer through the Jesus Movement in the '70's. However, I have become tired, frustrated, disillusioned by what goes on in "church". After about 7 years of total non-attendance I have started going to church again. I have found a tiny group of believers meeting at a practically forgotten church building where the pastor is working at...uh, just getting our heads into the Bible and having sweet fellowship. "No money, no programs, no problems" is the pastor's recent favorite quote. I like this!

I do agree with you that breast milk is best for babies and toddlers. I also have heard the best way to drink milk is raw. The problem is finding a source that is reputable. The point of the blog is to encourage people to research and make the best possible choice for them and not to offend anyone. I love cheese, too much. It's a tough habit to break. emoticon
