Move It and Lose It

My name is Ashley. I was born and raised in FL. I love to spend time just chilling or playing volley ball and football on the beach. I spent a couple years going to school at OWU in OH before heading back south to USF Tampa. I met my husband a few years ago in Ybor City. It was a crazy night. We've been married almost 3 years now. Because of the not so great US Immigration system, he moved back to Brasil about 2 years ago. This is when I started to gain a lot of weight. There was just no motivation for me to look hot. I was married, so I wasn't worried about attracting other guys. And my hubby wasn't with me (except for 2 visits a year), so I didn't have him to try to look hot for either.

I finally moved to Portugal in Aug so we could be together while we save money to buy our farm in Brasil. This country is hilly, most people don't have cars, and that's good because there is hardly any parking. This means that I walk almost everywhere. I've already lost a bunch of weight here. I'm not sure how much exactly. I just go by how tight my pants are and what notch my belt is on. All of my pants are huge and I'm on the last notch of one belt and the 2nd to last on the other, which is good because I was on the first (and tight) of both of them when I got here.

I had always been really fit and active. And even being fat now, I still don't feel like a fat person. I've always loved to get out and hike or run trails or going kayaking or canoeing, and I never stopped doing those things as I gained weight (just didn't do them as much). But when it comes to sports, I'm pretty much a has been. I was a state ranked gymnast every year up to level 8 when I was 13. I quit because of the pain, and I didn't want to deal with all the surgery I would need to continue. I was a nationally ranked cc and track runner until I was 14. I slowed down a bit in hs and college because of all my lower body injuries and my asthma got much worse.

The great thing about sports though is that you don't have to be the best to enjoy them. Being a competitive person, this is hard for me to admit, but I am getting better. And if you are just horrid at sports, there's always ESPN!

Right now I'm just trying to get back into ok shape and know realistically that my body will never be what it used to be (unless a doctor invents a full body transplant).

My Goals:
I'm pregnant! So the goal is no longer to lose weight but to only gain about 15lbs because I'm still a bit heavier than where I should be.

My Program:
The doctor says that running is out, so I will be walking as much as possible as soon as I stop feeling so awful.

I still want to do ballet bar work because that works the entire body, and I'll use that as my strength exercise.

Personal Information:
My name is Ashley.
I'm from Bradenton, FL but am living in Portugal for a while.
I desperately miss American food and grocery stores.
I love being outdoors and active.

Just thought I'd drop by to say hi. I know you are probably dealing with pregancy now and just life. I haven't been sparking either. I hope to be back full swing after my cruise in June. Prayers and blessings to you, hubby and your baby! Let me know if it's a girl or boy, name, birth weight and how things are going.

Hi Ashley! I've been celebrating my birthday for about a week or more now. Sometimes I make good choices when eating out, but other times I just dive in and get something not so healthy.
The goood thing is that I am making a concious choice and looking for ways to burn off the excess calories. One night, I came home from eating crab legs, salad, potato (with all of the trimmings) along with dessert... danced like I was on speed for over an hour! LOL! A friend gave me a dozen chocolate covered strawberries, I ate 9 of them! I am dealing with a severe cold right now, so I'm not eating much now. I'll get back on track soon.

Yes, I am still dancing with my grand-daughter, Georgia. She is a joy. I also have a 5 month old grand-son, Isaiah. I had them both last week for three days. My hands were full, but they are a blessing. You'll find having a baby joy also. I hope you have a support system there in Portugal. Soon, I'll be hearing about your joyful stories. I do hope you are feeling better these days.

Your new goals make sense, but don't beat yourself up if you happen to gain a little more than 15 pounds. I pray you have a healthy baby and that all goes well. Keep in touch.

This response is so delayed! Sorry! How are you doing? Sorry the internet is still being crappy. How is the pregnancy treating you
? I'm sorry you've been having pain but hopefully you are feeling a bit better. My weekends have been good, busy, and I've been having at least one off day, which I NEED to stop, becuase it really just ruins the weight loss from th week before. So tough.

Hi Ashley! I was really glad to hear from you. Sorry the weather is so rainy in Portugal and internet, tv, etc. is disabled.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Children are a blessing. Usually after the first tri-mester that sickness should go away. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for sharing about thinking of me everytime you eat zucchini, marina sauce and mozerella cheese. I think that great! I'll keep you in my prayers and check on you later.
