Welcome to the world of an elementary P.E. teacher.

"No, I don't play basketball. Do you play mini golf?" (I am 6'1" so the basketball question comes up constantly!)

Well, the short of it is I am a former All American volleyball player who hated to run but needed to find a way to stay in shape after real life hit. Since finishing the Couch to 5K in the summer 2008, I have done many races of various distances. I finally bit the bullet and did my first major race in 2010. I am hooked!!

December 2010- Dallas White Rock Marathon
March 2011- Dallas Rock n Roll Half Marathon
January 2012- Houston Marathon
March 2012- Dallas Rock n Roll Marathon
November 2012- Fort Worth Half Marathon
November 2013- San Antonio Half Marathon- coming soon!

In August 2011, my husband and I's life was changed with his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. We were scared to death and cried a lot but have slowly gotten back into a normal life. He is on trial medication right now of 3 self given shots per week and an I.V. infusion done every couple of months. He has still been given a go to continue to workout but, he needs to be careful and not over-heat since an elevated body temperature can exacerbate his symptoms.

I seem to find myself on a roller coaster of weightloss. I am up again with my highest point at 188.2 which although is healthy for my height, I know I can do better. I am hoping to get back down to the low 170's. I feel better about myself in that weight range I guess I could say.

My Goals:
2013

1. Get back down to the lower 170's again.

2. Beat my half marathon PR of 10:13 per mile. Race is in November.

My Program:
-Play volleyball

-Run, run, run

-Lift weights

Summer 2008- Couch to 5K gradulate and never looked back! If you are looking to get into running, put your faith in this program b/c it works.



Personal Information:
I am your not typical PE teacher. I am a big time over-achiever and don't want to settle with just "rolling out the basketballs" every day. I have an after school running club with tons of kids running local races. I also have a successful jump rope team.

Never ever, ever, underestimate what a kid can do. My kids will challenge anyone to anything. It does not matter if its pushups, running, sit-ups, sit and reach, or pull ups, MY KIDS WILL BEAT YOU.

I am happily married for almost 9 years to my husband who is a police officer and we are cocker spaniel ppl! We have grouchy old man Kenny who is almost 10 years old. After losing our most precious Abernathy due to illness in March 2013, Houston came bounding into lives with all the puppy-ness we could handle in May! He is now 14 months old and a ton of fun.

Hi! So, OMG, my bff wants us to sign up for a 5/15K in December (a Hot Chocolate Run--like I could resist that). She really wants us to try the 15K. The most I've ever run is 6 miles and I haven't done that in months--mostly because there's been no reason to--lol. I'm a "plan" girl. I like a training plan (last summer I did the C25K). So, I'm wondering if you followed a specific training program when you did the HM training. If only the race offered a 10K, I wouldn't hesitate. Plus, I have almost 6 months to train.

I'd welcome any advice or suggestions. Hope all is well with you!
