Fit after 60

2007: Over the years, the weight has slowly crept up. I just want to return to the weight I was 20 years ago when I met my husband (124 pounds) instead of the 136 that I am today. I hate the flab on my body. I try to walk 35 minutes most days at lunch and I do some light weights off and on, but the weight just stays about the same. Help!! My discipline has disappeared.

2012 update: I have lost 8 pounds, but still focused on the 124 goal. I am now retired, so more time for ...

You have it in you

When you feel like quitting, thatís an opportunity to keep going. When you feel like giving up, you have it in you to step forward with renewed energy and to give more.

Giving up doesnít accomplish anything, and it doesnít make you feel any better. It just leaves you with disappointment and regret.

Thereís a way to keep going, and you know it. Thereís a way to keep going, and just imagine how great you will feel for choosing persistence.

If youíre weary, stop for a short while to rest, but donít give up. Remind yourself of all the good reasons why youíve chosen to move forward, and then get yourself going again.

If you wish to be free of the effort, then do what it takes to finish the effort. Make all your work count for something by bringing it to a successful conclusion.

The next step is right in front of you, and you have it in you to take that step. Keep going, fulfill your best possibilities, and youíll always be thankful for your choice to do so.
