It is silly at best to wish to be 21 again, to hope for the return of that toned body, tight skin, sparkling eyes, and boundless energy. It is a waste of time to wish I'd appareciated youth more when I had it. What I want to do now, what I wish to do, what I need to do is accept who I am, where I am, and welcome my present and my future with open arms and an open mind.

I am so tired of making excuses, I'm tired of dieting, I'm tired of starting over, I'm tired of talking about it, reading about it, and VERY tired of my half-hearted attempts at it. With a new month I've made a new commitment and, I will admit, this time it feels different. Maybe I'm just tired but I really do feel different since I came to some realizations tonight as I typed out my blog. There is a clarity of mind that has been missing before. This time really IS going to be different.

Twenty-one will never rear her lovely head again. But fifty-four can still be good, even great IF I take care of me, stop making excuses, work hard, be honest, and be consistent. I look forward to tomorrow. I look forward to who I'm becoming.

HOW YOU BURN CALORIES. There are two main ways to burn calories – lifestyle activity or planned activity.

emoticon •Lifestyle activity is the movement that is part of your regular routine, like walking when shopping, carrying the laundry, or doing household chores.

emoticon •Planned activity usually means specific, purposeful activity at an intensity of moderate or vigorous level.
The amount of calories you burn in an hour depends on your weight, the activity performed and the intensity of the activity. Pedometers are helpful because lifestyle activity can literally “step up” your weight loss.
Distance counts for burning calories – and for most beginners, it is best to increase distance before working on speed.
