There hasn't been any text here for most of the time I've been using SparkPeople... guess the 6 month mark is as good a time as any to let you see something about me. Last year, I lost over 60 pounds. Most of that was before I found SparkPeople. That said, the last of it came off during the first 2.5 months after joining and I have been maintaining my weight since then with very little trouble. All of the credit for that goes to me and to this website - without the resources available ...
All of the credit for that goes to me and to this website - without the resources available to me here, I am sure that I would not be successfully maintaining my weight. I still track most of what I eat and most of my activity here. There's the accountability factor, sure. But my primary reason for tracking the food is that I am still working on maintaining a balance between carbs/protein/fat. Oddly enough, the fat is the most difficult minimum for me to meet and carbs would be second hardest on most days. I absolutely love fruits & veggies, but I still don't eat a lot of the other carbs (bread, pasta, etc.) Brown rice, quinoa, millet, amaranth, etc... those things I enjoy fairly regularly as part of a meal. Bread, pasta, cereals, and the like just leave me wanting something else, so I always figure why bother with them when all they do is make me want more food. Too bad I didn't figure that out back when I was packing on the pounds! I am not currently really involved here beyond my logging and an occasional blog. I read a lot of other blogs, I read articles like crazy... but I have not spent much time involved in the chat threads. I am concerned that for me these activities may be as addictive as food can be. Well, that, and I tend to be a somewhat private person.

My Goals:
Goals for 2012 are: To be happy, healthy & relaxed... and remember that life is an adventure so treat it like one! To maintain a healthy weight and continue to develop strength and fitness. To learn something new every day. Not exactly measurable goals, but they are mine.
My Program:
Drink 9-15 cups of water per day (this changes based on both my activity level and the weather). Eat 7-10 servings of fruits & vegetables per day (limiting the fruits to 1-2 servings) Cardio and strength training on a regular basis (cardio usually ends up being part of almost every day).
Personal Information:
I've lived a little bit of everywhere in the U.S. at some point in my life - CA, AL, and TX to name a few - and am currently in the very cold & snowy Upper Peninsula of MI.
Other Information:
I am a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend. I love to cook - especially creating new recipes. I believe it is possible to eat healthy on a very tight budget - full time first hand experience. I knit and read when I sit still long enough to do those things... much less than in the past, but I still manage to find some time for both.
