Ever Optimistic
I am currently 60 years young and would like to lose about 80 lbs. I have a large family and many grandchildren. I was more or less of normal weight until I got married and was expecting my first child. The 30 lbs. I gained then, stayed with me and I added more each time I had a baby. I still thought of myself as normal, size 10 temporarily overweight, meanwhile I was at an all time high of about 230 about 13 years ago. I never really tried to lose weight because I wasn't sure how committed I would be and I didn't want to "yoyo" diet, so I felt it was better to stay overweight than to keep on going up and down, which I felt would happen with me. Then 11 1/2 years ago, I was given a thirty day pass to a local gym. I started going and I was hooked. For about 7 months I exercised 4 days a week with a class geared for older or less active people. I didn't diet, but lost about 5 lbs. and looked much better. Then one day I stopped eating foods that contained sugar and I started losing 2-3 lbs a week easily, until I had lost 50 lbs. People told me I was "disappearing", but, I was wearing a size 16, so I knew I had more weight to lose. (I am only 5'2"). Unfortunately it didn't last, the gym changed ownership, the classes I liked stopped and I stopped watching what I ate. I gained back everything. Now I've found SparkPeople and I want to try again. I started 5 weeks ago and have lost 9 lbs. I hope this time I stay committed for life. I feel much better and more energetic. I don't deprive myself. I make sure that I can fit some treats into my program some times.

My Goals:
Would like to lose at least 80 lbs and get really fit.
My Program:
I am not on any particular diet.I eat normal food which I fit into SparkPeople's guidlines as to calories, carbs, fats and proteins, so I don't feel deprived. I just am careful with weighing and measuring what I eat and when I reach my daily total, I stop eating for the day.
