Don’t sacrifice what you really want for what you want right now.
I decided to loose weight when I was suffering from heel pain and my mobility was being affected. I was scared I would hurt myself and never be able to recover from it, at 323lbs this was a real possibility! Taking myself seriously and doing this all for myself is how I have achieved this. Weight loss for anybody or reason other than your own reasons doesn't work. You have to want it yourself. If anybody had said way back in Spring 2009 that by the end of ...
If anybody had said way back in Spring 2009 that by the end of the year I would be over 100 pounds lighter I would have laughed in their face. I would never have imagined it. Thats why I set myself very small weight loss goals, never looked at the 'big' picture as it didnt seem achievable. In doing this, remaining positive in meeting these small goals, they all added up into something much bigger and better. I cannot deny its been hard, I cannot deny its got me down sometimes, but I also cannot deny its worth it. Its worth being surprised by yourself at finding a motivation you never believed you would have. I have been asked about how I have been eating. I make sure to have protein at every meal, I have cut out most empty carbohydrates. Eating at levels around 33% Protein, 33% Fats, 33% carbohydrates. I really missed things buttery toast, but at some point you have to think about the fact that you are killing yourself in a small way every time I did that.... and is it really worth it? It was very hard at first eating in a new way and I have struggles regulary, but in the end I know how good that good food can taste! I read a wonderful quote by a guy who was over 400lbs and lost, by himself. to 185lbs... he said "If you cannot commit to your life, how can you commit to anything in it?" How true is that? If your goals and ambitions and your LIFE are less important than a pizza or a cake then it really IS time to re-evaluate yourself.

My Goals:
Making mini goals as I go. I have changed my ticker... I changed it when I had lost 69lbs, I have moved it a lot further along, hopefully to the end of my weight loss. I am ready to face that far off goal now... My 162lbs lost goal will mean I have lost more than I still weigh! June 2010: My nurse talked with me about a final goal of being a normal BMI so set another goal of 14lbs further to lose. August 2010: GOAL MET!! 183lbs LOST. My BMI is normal! January 2013: Re-lose the weight gained after surgery, this impacted on my life greatly and recovery was slow. I need to sort myself out again!
My Program:
Education... learning about whats in our foods, whats good nutrition. I eat low carb, usually under 100g a day as this allows for eating vegetables, a few healthy crackers. I dont tend to eat bread or pasta... the calorie impact vs. the nutrient impact of these foods REALLY doesn't seem worth it to me. Increasing exercise... I did this slowly and it really worked for me and didnt feel an effort. Now I look forward to it! (mostly!)
Personal Information:
I live in London, England, I grew up near Cambridge.
Other Information:
Love my kitties! Have 3. I love reading and enjoy horror films a great deal.
