I wasn't planning to ... but now that I am, I am liking it.
I saw the stage version as a child and memorized the score when I was about 7. I didn't see the movie version until I was in college: so, I never considered the movie version as the "original." I was always more loyal to the stage version.
They just disappointed me by using the song from the movie version that replaced one of my favorites from the original stage version.
dH and I will be watching ... just not tonight ~ thank heaven for dvrs!
Julie Andrews did a beautiful job but Carrie Underwood also has a lovely voice. I'm not opposed to remakes just because it's a remake. Some are good, some others are not. Then too, although the story line is supposed to be the same, as another poster said, it's a play and not a movie.
What's playing on NBC is the original stage version. It is very good, I dont know why they changed it and made the movie version. I saw this version 20 years ago. It's nice to see it again.
You know you love The Sound of Music, when you associate the word dear. With the song.
I want the clothes from the show in my size.

I have seen remakes come and go. I prefer originals to remakes. Its just something about originals, black and white, older actors/actresses, even bad acting. I'm gonna pass on the sound of music. I already have the songs stuck in my mind...ugh!!!!

Watching it, but so prefer the original. I wish they had realized the value of the some of the scenes that they changed.
The Sound of Music is one of my all time favorites, it was done beautifully by Julie Andrews I don't see the need to make over a classic... I just can't bring myself to watch it tonight, will you be watching?
