First, I would throw away the 120-130 goal and focus instead on body fat %, fitness goals and being healthy. Even at 18, 120-130 is probably not realistic for most 5'9" women, and I'd hate for you to be disappointed. I'm 5'6" and weigh 140-ish and wear a size 2-4. I naturally carry quite a bit of muscle and ST 2-3 days per week.
Second, I'm 29, I've lost 100+ lbs in stages and have lots of loose skin. Strength training has helped with some of it, and I'm just waiting and working to see if time does the job. Do I like it? No. Is it better than being a size 22? Oh yeah, I'll take my skin any day over that. Will I consider surgery at some point in the future if it doesn't go away/reduce? Maybe.

I'm at 96 pounds, size 2 petite, and after losing 50 pounds, I am pretty sure I will NEVER be able to wear anything sleeveless, or shorts again! I have tried everything except surgery - which I can't afford - and though I look great in skinny jeans, leggings, tucked in tops and belts - I STILL hate my body in a bathing suit. Loose skin..... I exercise every day.

I lost 100 pounds when I was over 50 years old, and at first I was horrified by my loose skin. For awhile I was only going to wear turtleneck shirts for the rest of my life because of the loose skin in my neck. The good news is, a lot of it gradually went back to the way it was (mostly.) Some of it was genetic luck, some of it was more weight loss and increased exercise. You have your youth -- I wouldn't worry too much about it. You'll look much better to yourself, not worse.

According to your age. If over 45 you probably will have sagging and hanging folds of skin. I a certain age that varies per person, skin will lose its elasticity.

Because you're young, there is a good chance any excess skin will pop back. The younger a person is, the more elastic their skin is. The slower you take the weight off, the more likely your skin will have time to bounce back.
However, do keep in mind that you have to do your best to keep your weight stable once you've lost the weight. If you yo yo diet (up/down/up/down), that does take a toll on a person's skin.
Also, while some of your skin should pop back, that doesn't mean it all will. Because you will have lost a substantial amount of weight, you might end up with some sagging skin. That's something any person who's lost weight has had to deal with.
Remember, what your body can do post weight loss is more important than how it looks. a little excess skin won't make you a bad person or an unhealthy one. Very very few people have perfectly tight skin. Most of us do have stretch marks, sagging skin, etc... No one is perfect. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy.

You are still young and that bodes well for you. Make sure you add plenty of strength and toning exercises and you should be able to escape loose skin. Eating a healthy diet with plenty of fresh foods will help as well.

Hi, first I'd just like to say that I'm sure there are a million topics about loose skin so sorry for making another one but there's just so many conflicting responses out there! So I'm 18 years old, 5'9" and my weight has ranged between 140-210, but usually it's been around 170-180 or so in the last couple years. I'm currently at 168 and my goal weight is 130-120, which would be a 80-90lb loss from my highest weight and would take me from bmi of 31 to 18-19. I'm planning to lose about 2lbs per week. I've always been pretty active - I ride horse and run a lot and have been since middle school. Most of the weight gain came from binge eating, which I've mostly recovered from. I'm wondering if I will get loose skin or not??? I'm really mostly worried about my inner thighs because the skin there feels really soft and different? When I pinch it it goes out a bit farther than my other skin but it isn't wrinkly or anything like the pictures I've seen of loose skin... Also I do have a lot of stretch marks and I've read that that is an indicator of poor skin elasticity. I know it's really dumb to worry about this but I can't help it, I just don't want to lose all this weight and still be self-conscious about my body because of loose skin! Do you think I will have loose skin? Is there any way to get rid of it without surgery if I do get it? Thanks in advance for reading this, sorry it was so long!
