Thank you all those helped. I did mess up today, but I ate to much. I also fell down some deck steps at a friends house. pretty banged up say a prayer. but I feel better I don't have to be perfect.

Definitely know what you mean... I am the type of person who eats out of boredom and/or emotion, so I know that a big chunk of this journey is changing the way I think and breaking bad habits!

Sometimes. There are times I feel like I am going through the 12 steps. I have my support groups, I have my failures and I have my successes. As long as my successes outnumber my failures or slips-- I am excellent.

I feel the similarity to AA is about honestly looking at our lives and acknowledging we can do better. Sharing and learning better ways to deal with the ups and downs that are part of life is a rewarding way to improve.
Sparkpeople has a wealth of resources to help us all lead a healthier life. One of the ideas I take from a grateful AA member...."If in doubt, take steps in the direction of your goals"

Some of the principles do apply. Addiction is addiction, regardless of whether or not it's alcohol or food. The only problem is, you can quit alcohol, but you can't quit food!

You do have to realize with both that this isn't a journey of perfection. You will mess up. You will have ups and downs. It's not about willpower, or being strong.

And the whole thing is a whole lot easier if you have someone to hold your hand through the process. We're here, and our hands are out, if you choose to accept them!

It's very much a roller coaster ride, I think. Part of the challenge for me has been to break the comfort of eating whatever and however much I want, of eating past the point of hunger. What I'm learning now is to normalize the feeling of satisfaction after eating a properly portioned meal. I allow the craving for a second plate to surface but I simply observe it because it eventually passes; I rarely indulge it now(only around family--another challenge to face!)

Just know we all go through that, it's part of the journey whenever we decide to change our life. Cheers!

Sometimes I have desparte moments like when u quit smoking or drinking. Other times Im so happy about how well Im doing does this make since.
