I'm with CHESAPEAKE60 or SLIMMER KIWI. I do best to not focus on the scale. I use my clothes and how they fit and other things to gage how my body is changing. I don't have a scale at home and weigh myself usually once a month.
However, when I get to my goal or maintenance area, I will have a scale at home and weigh myself more often to make sure that I am keeping track of myself very well, and not gaining.

Everybody's different. I know this approach wouldn't work for me. I need daily weigh-ins to see where I'm at. But the fluctuations don't have a discouraging effect on me, and they do for many people. So for me, daily is best. For you, if daily weight checks are a stumbling block, cut it out and do what seems best for you.

I only weigh when I go to my Medical Centre - it might be once a month - it might be once in THREE months. I weigh all of my food and enter it into the Nutrition Tracker, but I also keep a spreadsheet of my daily calories/fat/fibre/exercise and weight when I weigh so this makes it very easy to see at a glance where and when I need to make adjustments.
I think that if you are inclined to obsess about a number, then you are better off relying on other things as an indicator to how you are doing. Things like: * How your clothes fit * Your energy level * The quality of your sleep * The condition of your hair/skin * Improved BP and bloods (cholesterol and blood sugars) if they are problematic

I absolutely think once a month is best for some people! Me being one of those people. Weekly or daily weighing would just depress me if the "expected" number did not show on the scale. And that would make it hard to stay motivated. So I got rid of my scale at home - if it was in the house I could not stay off it. Sigh...... Then I would get weighed and measured once a month at Curves. As long as you are faithfully following program you WiLL have a loss each month (regardless of fluid shifts, etc that can affect daily or weekly numbers).
Then once I got to goal I got a scale again. Now I weigh daily to help me regulate my maintenance. Since I am not looking for a loss I do Ok with daily fluctuations and just adjust my eating accordingly to keep it at goal..

I usually do it once a week and do my measurements once a month.
FOr daily check-ins I'm more concerned with how my clothes are fitting. Don't get me wrong I watch weight but I focus more on clothes and my measurements with the knowledge that weight fluctuates at any given time.

so, i've been thinking maybe i'd try a different approach with my weight loss journey -- i'm considering avoiding the scale, and weighing in once a month - instead of once a week as i'm currently doing -- except sometimes i get on it in between ... which relates to the issue, at times, i think i get a little too attached to the number on the scale, and this may have an impact on my progress (either good or bad, but most likely bad).
the danger, i fear, is that the lack of accountability may cause me to overeat more frequently. i thought i would use different progress measures, like measurements, instead. and i would weigh once a month, i think part of the idea is to "trust the process", and focus on the long term changes.
