While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there may be weeks you don't lose. There may even be weeks you gain ! And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong.
It's important to have a goal, but it's also important for that goal to be realistic. 20 pounds in three months is not out of the realm of possibility, but it could be ambitious. The human body doesn't like being on a schedule. You may want to lose 20 pounds by July. Your body may decide to take longer. And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong.
In theory, you could lose 20 pounds in three months if you were to lose at least 2 pounds per week for ten weeks straight. It's not impossible, but once again... it's ambitious.
Instead of putting yourself on a "diet" to lose that weight, set some simple goals so that you establish a healthy lifestyle. If you engage in a healthy lifestyle instead of a diet, you might only lose 10 pounds, BUT you would keep that weight off.
Here's something I learned from my own years of yo yo dieting, the faster you take the weight off, the faster it packs back on. take the weight off slowly and it will stay off.
I don't want to discourage you, but I do want you to be aware that you can't force your body to lose X pounds in Y time. Your body will lose when it's ready to lose and not before. That's why so many people get frustrated. They want to lose fast and when they don't, they think they're doing something wrong. There really is no fast way to lose weight.
Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time. My advice ? Start slowly. Take the weight off slowly. You might not lose 20 pounds, but you would go to that wedding with the glow of good health.

You totally can do this!! 1 really important thing is WATER!!!
My granddaughter is getting married in July and I want to lose 20 pounds by then. I need all the encouragement I can get.. My husband and I have an outfit we got for his alumni three years ago and I would like to wear my blue dress.
