omggggg, is there a place that i can just calculate how many calories I should be eating? thanks.

LEDIVYA,

Just taking a cursory glance over your food log, you have days where you skip meals. Now, if you're not feeling well, that's going to happen occasionally. But, you don't want to do that on a regular basis. You'll find that you're less likely to over indulge in treats, if you eat more balanced meals spaced out through the day.

It wouldn't hurt to increase your intake of fresh fruit and veggies. Some days, you're only logging 3 servings or less. For optimum health, a person should be eating at least 6-9 servings each and every day. That would help you bump up your intake of fiber.

Now, if you're eating 1200 calories a day and you're burning 500 calories via exercise, yes... that means your body has 700 calories to fuel your entire day. No, that is not enough to keep an adult woman healthy. People believe they need to eat less and less in order to lose. That is a misconception. starving your body of the calories it needs to function properly doesn't work. You've got to eat if you want to lose.

So, yes, on days you burn 500+ calories, you're going to have to eat a bit extra. How much ? Depends on how accurate your calorie burn is. weight loss is not an exact science. what works neatly on paper isn't so neat when it comes to human biochemistry.

You definitely should eat more if you're going to do more exercise. if you do more exercise, you might get fitter faster, but not necessarily scale lighter. that really does boil down to what you are eating. You definitely need to eat more.

Ok, yeah, thanks, y'all, I will just take today off from the gym, too.

Arch- Yeah, that is a pretty accurate log. I thought as long as you consumed at least 1200 cals/day you were fine, though? So, what you're saying is caloric intake + caloric deficit= at least 1200?

I would also recommend tracking your food on the nutrition tracker and measuring portions. It's very easy to underestimate what you are really eating. When you get closer to your goal weight, this becomes even more important.

If you're not feeling well, don't go to the gym. Trying to exercise when you don't feel well isn't productive. Wait until you feel better.

I took a look at your food diary, are you logging all your food choices ? If not, then one reason you're not losing weight is because you're not eating enough. Eating too little and exercising too much will hinder a person's weight loss, not help it. And doing more and more exercise will not speed up your loss. If you eat 1700 calories a day and you burn 600 with exercise, that means your body has 1100 calories to fuel your day. So, it's not a wonder you've been feeling fatigued. food = energy and no food = no energy.

What to do ? You could try eating a bit more on days you know you're going to burn a lot of calories OR you can take your workouts back a notch.

Also, depending on how long you've been trying to lose, it really can take 6-8 weeks of healthy eating and regular exercise before a person sees a change in the scale. And that's perfectly normal.

Take it easy today. Do you have some vegetable soup or broth ? You still need to keep up your strength. Push the fluids and if you don't start feeling better, talk to your doctor.

If you are still feeling sick, it would be best that you contact your doctor who is in the best position to help you out. While SparkPeople is a wonderful community for support and encouragement, we aren't a substitute for the advice you should obtain from your own healthcare provider.

When one is experiencing these types of symptoms, it's best that you skip the gym until you feel better. Remember healthy living is a life sentence. You can't just follow it for a little while only to go back to the way you once ate and lived. That being said, taking a few days off to heal will do you more good then pushing through when you feel ill.

so, yesterday I skipped my last class and came home. I felt so hungry and tired and didn't want to eat at or around school, 'cos the only vegan stuff they have are potato chips and some candy (forgot to pack lunch.) well, i get home, and i make some toast and avocado... a few hours later, i feel extremely woozy. I try to eat some sugary foods to get some energy to go to the gym, but that doesn't work. i start to feel like I have a fever, but I didn't. next thing I know, I'm in bed watching breaking bad (new obsession) and feeling nauseous. I could've thrown up if I decided to bend over in the right direction, but I didn't. the queasy feeling lasted for many hours. I could feel and hear my stomach doing all sorts of weird stuff. once it settled down, i felt like i needed to eat to absorb all the stomach acid.

long story short, I feel fatigued and fat. I work out 6 days a week (cardio and strength). I'm not always in my calorie range, but for the most part I'm always close by. considering I burn probably well over 2500 calories/week in the gym... why am I only losing 0.5 lb here and there? also, why am i feeling so sick? I know I didn't eat anything weird. I eat the same stuff I pretty much always do.

should I just take another day off from the gym? should I indulge in foods and stuff? I dunno what to do. this whole thing feels hopeless.
