I don't eat hard candy much, but once in a while will chew gum just as a distraction from cravings. Water or tea work for me too.

No, because sugar-free candy and gum almost always has Nutri-Sweet/Asartame in it. For me, that is deadly. I have a reaction to it that causes my brain to swell. Even one stick of gum will give me a terrible headache.

I use either sugar free gum, or Werther's Original Sugar Free Candies - they are 10 calories a piece, and because they are very hard, they take a long time to suck. I only usually have 1 or two in a day, and ALWAYS enter them into the Nutrition Tracker :-)

My favorite "not really hungry" trick is hot tea. I drink a LOT of it; the warmth helps me feel full, and keeps my hydrated. Often, we're dehydrated, not hungry! Try drinking 8 ozs of water every time you feel hungry, but not truly hungry. Also try distracting yourself. usually, I've found the cravings strike when I'm lonely, bored, or tired.

I can't say I'm never guilty of it but I try to avoid treating my mouth as a tool to relieve boredom, tension, stress, etc. and try to substitute other alternatives/distractions rather than putting something in my mouth.
Does anyone use these little things to help lose weight? I'm not sure if this makes sense, but sometimes *I'm* not hungry, but my mouth is. Does that make sense? LOL So I though keeping some mints or tic tacs around (sugar free of course) might help me.
