ROFLMAO!!!

We had a Brittany (passed away at 14 yrs. last summer). When we first got him, we were sitting in our sunroom in Maine. Suddenly he saw the kids playing outside and he went right through the window screen! (Thank god the window pane was up!)

Dexter would take a "trip" at least a couple of times per year...no matter the weather or time of day/night. He just had a great nose and liked to follow it once in awhile.

We had a cat, too (lived to 18!). I remember one night (again when we lived in Maine) that she got out and we had all the kids in the neighborhood scouring the woods behind our house for her. To this day, I am so surprised we found her!

I follow my Kitty around the apt to increase my exercise - so far it isn't working! She needs to step it up a bit...

Walking is great. So is pedaling. So are the sparkpeople quick cardio workout videos. HOLY intense!!!! Seriously! You want to do what you can, especially if you're not accustomed to regular exercise, and make sure you get the clearance from your doctor before you start anything. I'm obeser than you. It's a word, now. Don't judge me. emoticon Playing. Anyway, seriously-I'm bigger than you are, but I'm not terribly sedentary like I was when I was younger. You really have to build up your tolerance and intensity bit by bit.
I have faith in you! You can do this! Walking the pup is a GREAT way to start!

We have a Chihuahua and we use to live on a Mountainside at 9,000 ft above sea level here in Colorado. When she would decide to run up our driveway (which was definitely a 7% Grade and gravel usually covered with ice and snow) we would just wait, because she would get out of breath from running and barking and the altitude! Then she was easy to catch, but I was always afraid a coyote or fox or even a Mountain Lion would get to her first so we always walked up and retrieved her! Now we are at 7,000 feet and she has Congestive Heart Failure (she is 12 years old now) so she hardly gets to the driveway, but did make it across our street once and we had to go after her! I never realized how fast a little dog could be! My son who was a Track runner even in College and still runs all the time, just not competitively, once ran a track with her when she was young, and even at 9,000 ft then, she out ran him!

this morning the dog got out and we went and chased her down. the driveway is kinda uphill, and i was walking at a very steady pace. i usually walk kinda slow, but this time i had a hard time breathing, so i know i need to walk a lot more to get into shape.
