This is all true. I have upped my exercise and taking a swim class at the YMCA. What a workout that is. I've noticed the drop in inches but not in pounds so I have to eat less and better. Carol

Coach Jen is quite right. When it comes to losing weight, what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit. Since you've been exercising, you may have noticed your clothes fitting better. You may have noticed inches starting to drop off. You may have noticed cardiovascular improvements.

Now, if you want to see a change in the scale, you have to be mindful of your portion sizes as well as eat right. And I'm going to emphasize the importance of watching your portion sizes. Many people who eat right wonder why they aren't losing weight. it's because they are still eating too much even though they are eating healthy foods. portions matter.

thanks Coach Jen. I am getting back to using Spark People and am hoping to get better about inputting my food intake as well as my exercises. So, maybe the picture will look better in a few more weeks.

Are you tracking all of your food daily? What is your recommended calorie range and how many calories do you typically consume?

When it comes to weight loss, the majority of your progress is going to come from diet, not exercise.

I swim for an hour on M-W-F, walk for an hour on T-Th-Sa, and I try to water jog for 30 minutes 3 times a week. I have a neuro/muscular disease and cannot do weights or running (drop foot due to neuro-muscular). I have been eating healthier and cannot seem to lose weight. Help.
