I also just recovered from a hysterectomy. I feel better, stronger, and more energetic than I have in years. I have started over and over and over for years, but this year I believe in myself as never before with the help of SparkPeople! I have weighed over 200 pounds for the last 14 years and every year I say I will be below 200 by my birthday...which is around the end of August...Still time to make it this year!
The only thing that matters is DON'T QUIT. Nearly everyone who joins Sparks gives up and quits. Don't be one of them. This is a life long effort.

Hi Brenda, I like your topic, I too am starting over again. I had joined SparkPeople last year and began working with a personal trainer three times a week. While I felt stronger and happy I did not loose a single pound. Then... in April I had to have a hysterectomy and that meant stopping all my work outs for 6 weeks! The day of my surgery was a real eye opener for me, as the hospital staff and my doctor commented on how strong and healthy I was.. I was up and walking to the other end of the hospital the next day. I then joked that I had been training for the surgery. So I am now in week two back at the gym with my trainer, trying to balance it with back to work and back to life. I will watch for you and be there so encourage you, because starting over is not easy, but we can do it! Lisa
it has been a long time since I really started working on living a healthy lifestyle and a goal of getting to and maintaining a healthy weight. I am ready now. To do what it takes. it is a lifestyle not a goal to get to . it is all about taking care of myself . I want a better quality of life and that is only possible if i lose some of this excess weight, eat healthier, and exercise. I am going into this with the knowledge I need to succeed . I just want to come here for support , recipes, ideas for different exercises , and to get plugged into living the healthy lifestyle. I know from experience it is a journey, not a destination to kill myself to get to nor a stroll through the park. It is something I must decide each day is worth it. And like everything we do in life.. there are twists, turns, ups, downs, good times ,bad times. But success lies in never giving up! SO I hope to come on here a lot esp when I need some fresh ideas and support. Thanks for being here. Brenda
