I am also on a low carb diet, but since I am diabetic, and struggle with carbs, I am on a more restrictive one.. Atkins.
South Beach lowers carbs till you start to lose weight, and aims for the highest amount you can consume, and lose weight on. If carbs do not cause you cravings, then you should be able to enjoy a diverse menu, and lose weight, without hunger.
My only issue with South Beach was that I still ate the foods that caused cravings. It was like slowly dipping myself into icewater. Every week that I dropped carbs, I felt better. So I switched to Atkins, which removed the carbs almost completely, and then slowly added them back in, up to the level I could lose weight at, and not feel cravings.
I hope you achieve loss of cravings, weight loss, and more energy at a high carb level. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well low carb works, even without going very low.

Good luck, I know some people who have had great success with South Beach. I would also encourage you to check out www.kalynskitchen.com/2006/09/south-beach- diet-information-posts-on.html She is a former caterer who did the South Beach diet, and now has a cooking blog where many of the recipes are good for different phases of the diet. I'm not a South Beacher myself, but I make her recipes fairly often, and they're great! Making one tonight actually.

It's good to hear that your doctor is supervising your weight loss program. I don't have any experience with the South Beach diet, but I have heard some good things about it. Good luck to you!

I have started the south beach diet from my doctor who is working with me to lose weight I have 100lbs to loose,it hasn't been to hard just getting in that mind set of I can not eat that so wish me luck any advice would be great
