if you enjoy dried fruit enough, there are cheap dehydrators at walmart so you can make your own. It will save money and you are getting exactly what you put in it. just remember to drink enough water when eating dried fruit or veggies emoticon

Thanks all, I have bought a pack of mixed nuts and some dried fruit to keep in my desk in case I feel that need. A handful of each usually sees me through. emoticon I tend to by my snacks at the local scoop shop, they have a good selection and I can mix them myself.

I try not to. But if I feel the need I have lots of fruits and other healthy snacks to chose from.

I try my best to focus on other things or prepare something like egg, fruit, packaged biscuit or nuts. When I snack I try not eat minless such as eating with checking calories, count chewing times and write down what I eat etc so that I can realize stop time.

Be sure to check the packaging the calorie count is usually a lot higher than fresh fruit, plus it can have a lot of additives that aren't that great.

Three warnings:

1. Remember that each piece packs the nutrients and calories of an original fresh fruit.
2. They're not the best for your teeth, so be careful to brush after eating it.
3. Some, such as craisins, have added sugar.

To echo what some of the other posters are saying, dried fruit is great for variety. I personally like snacks that are filling and give some extra nutrients. Dried fruit usually does not fit the bill for me as far as being filling, but I don't feel the need to ever eliminate any food altogether unless it is medically necessary. It's all about figuring out what works best for you and what makes you feel the healthiest.

Check out freeze dried fruit! It can be a little tart, but one package (try Archer Farms) is around 100 calories and is a decent portion size.

dried fruit tends to have more sugar than fresh, but i use it in salads and my trail mix.

Dried fruit is fine! The difference really is that because there is much less water, you don't feel as full, so you end up eating more. Personally though, I love raisins and prunes and apple chips.

I never say you should avoid any food. Eat what you want, but control your portions! You can eat anything in the right quantity. Just make sure that the dried fruits you eat don't replace other necessary foods, like veggies, whole grains, and lean meats.

I use nuts as well for snacks. Generally cashews or almonds. I love fresh fruit! dried fruit sounds great also.
