thanx for putting it all in perspective. that helps.

right now I'm doing some morning exercises to release tension in my muscles, backs and hips. and some rehab stretches/exercises and a mild warm-up. and some belly dancing, on another note - i think i will cut down on belly dance drillz to slowly build my body up.

While we want to push our bodies to do more, we don't want to push them over the edge either. The right amount of exercise will keep our bodies fit and healthy. Too much exercise can actually break down our immune system and weaken our bodies. I know you're itching to get back into your routine, but you have to ask yourself this question.

"Do you want to take off 2-3 weeks from your routine now to recover from whatever injury you have OR do you want to take 2-3 months off later to recover from surgery ?"

If you try to start exercising before your body has properly healed, you're looking at a chronic injury that will require surgery. So, you have to ask yourself if you'd rather take a couple weeks off now or risk having surgery later ?

The fact is, as long as your are eating right and watching your portions you will not gain any weight because you can't exercise. Good nutrition is what takes the weight off and keeps it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies fit and healthy. In short, you can't outrun a bad diet with exercise. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to eat right first. So, as long as you are eating healthfully and mindful of your portions, you won't gain because you can't exercise.

Take care of your body ! That means resting when it needs rest.

I know it's hard, but try to keep the bigger picture in mind. Pushing yourself too much too soon is going to delay your recovery even further, so you'll end up getting back to that level of fitness you're hoping for even more slowly.

when you are in recovery, and need to take it slow to rehab this or that body part, how do you slow yourself down when you are just soooo anxious to have that HIGHER level of fitness, but your body just won't let you?
