I use the Slimfast shakes and sometimes the Special K ones because sometimes they are the only way I can get any protein at all. I'm at work on average 100 hours a week, and although I'm sure they're not as good as eating the real protein, I'm certain it's better than nothing! :-)

I drink 2 slim fast shakes a day plus 2 or 3 snacks and a balanced dinner. I have lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks. I like the shakes. They are easy for me in the mornings. I have a disabled husband, son and dog. So I make them at work. I'm not allowed to eat at my desk but I can drink what ever I want. Then at lunch I mix up my shake and place in the freezer. Then I use my lunch time to walk around our building a few times. It about the only time I get to exercise. I work full time and go to school full time. Its not for everyone but I get my chocolate fix every day with shakes. Good luck :)

I don't use store bought shakes, I just make my own smoothies. The Body Reset Diet book is really good for recipes. The recipes are really quick to make and are full of lots of protein and other good stuff. If I have one to replace a meal it keeps me full until the next meal.

My doctor told me not to drink my calories and protein. She helped me to find foods (veggies, beans and lean meats) that helped me to eat healthy.

I like to make a blended coffee drink with the Starbucks Via instant coffee packs, fat-free greek yogurt and vanilla soy milk blended with ice. I add a couple drops of Stevia to mine, and my husband likes a little chocolate or carmel syrup. Not as high protein as a protein powder shake, but I like that it's all real food. Plus it saves me money and calories over Starbucks Frappucinos!

I don't use shakes daily. But to get my protein up I eat cottage cheese daily. It is way cheaper than processed shakes. I do carry Slimfast ones around for "on the go" to much days or craving chocolate days. Would be interested if anyone has a good chocolate protein shake recipe that doesn't destroy your calorie intake for the day!!! Trying to keep my dependence on processed foods down.
I'm not a big breakfast eater so I drink muscle milk in the mornings.

Well, if you're under eating that might be a good part of the problem. You should increase in your calorie intake and stay in you Spark range.

Although you say you're not a vegetarian, you could definitely benefit from some of their eating habits. Toss some beans and sunflower/pumpkin seeds in your salad. Have a couple Tbsp of hummus with your veggies. Roast some garbanzo beans with olive oil and spices for a crunchy snack. I eat very little meat as well but choose not to supplement with shakes/powders/processed vegetarian meat substitutes.

A couple of times a month, I'll do some sort of shake. Really just for when I'm in a super rush and just can't manage to get a "good" meal. At least I know I'm getting not too bad nutrition for that one meal. Sometimes I'll put a scoop in a fruit smoothie.
thanks for the posts. I know this sounds bad but I do not eat meats on a daily basis. no not vegetarian I eat the same just about everyday. vegies, salads tomatoes cucumbers carrots sometime brocolie Chick thats it occasionally turkey pepronie or a lean burger. so I will have to substitute something. If I get 1100 calories a day thats good normally 900
They are still processed and bad for your body, plus, I LIKE my $$$$$ LOL
I rather have it in my pocket then give it to someone else if possible..
I find when I eat right more protien, fruits and veggies, I don't need those shakes.. I love making my own shakes with yogurt, chia seeds, real frozen fruits.. Plus its cheaper and more power protein/fiber packed.
don't use store bought shakes or ones sold by distributors. Have not really found anything healthy or sustaining in these. However, I will make smoothies and juices for myself in my lovely vitamix. That way I control everything that goes into it.
stupidgf- the chocolate shakeology is good, but way to much $$$. If you want to use a shake GNC sells lean shakes. I use them sometimes. I stick to vanilla bean and swiss chocolate. The berry lean shake was to sweet for me and the cookies and cream taste like chemicals. You can mix them with water or milk.

Just did research on shakeology ideal shake px 90 like the ideashape low sugar and carbs and calories. I eat only 60 grams of protein on a good day and now I could just lay down no energy. shakeology is too expensive and they say taste is really bad so don' think I can do that one. I have used slimfast and kroger brand but too much sugar and carbs.
