I want to thank everyone for the positive thoughts and ideas to try! I will get back on track... I did some figuring out today, and I am not as far off track as I feel I am. The mind can play some serious games. Before my negative thoughts took over, I had hit 75 pounds lost, and gained back 10. I only have 7 more pounds to go to get back to 75. I love all the ideas you have all given me and will be trying them :)

Melissa, you ARE worth the extra effort as others have said.
I give all new members one piece of advice when they start and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". if the only healthy thing you did for yourself was drink 8 glasses of water today, that's still a step in the right direction.
I'm also a firm believer that stress is a neglected aspect of weight gain. If a person could reduce their stress, they'd automatically reduce their waistline. So, another piece of advice I'm going to give you is to try to find ways to RELAX. If you can reduce your stress, you will find that you make fewer trips to the kitchen.
Here's what I recommend, the next time you feel an urge to eat junk, sit and have a cup of tea. Have two cups if necessary. Tea is very relaxing as well as soothing. If you don't want tea, take a walk. Walking is not only great cardiovascular exercise, it's a great way to reduce stress too. Take a bubble bath. Listen to your favorite tunes. Find other ways to vent your stress instead of eating.
How about a kick boxing class ? A while ago, when I got stressed out, I'd hit a heavy bad and take boxing lessons. felt great afterwards. Do you have to take kick boxing ? Nope. the point is to keep yourself busy so that you don't think about food.
Take things one day at a time. Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. that's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body. take baby steps literally and figuratively.
“Over the last month, I have not been able to stay focused on my weight loss. I am exercising regularly, but since I am not happy with the way I feel about myself, and the constant stressors in my life right now, I continue to eat and eat and EAT!! it is going completely opposite of my exercising right now. I don't feel that I am worth the effort lately, and I feel alone.”
What I am wondering is this:
Do you suffer from Depression? Have you got someone in your physical life with whom you can share your feelings? Have you spoken with your Dr about what is going on?
The fact is, you ARE worth the effort! You are NOT alone, even tho' you feel you are!
Please talk with your Dr - he/she may be able to help, and even possibly if need be, refer you to a therapist.
You're definitely worth the effort! I too was plagued (and still am) by low self worth. Maybe you could take a pen and paper (or type it out, whatever) and jot down everything you like about yourself. Write down everything that you are proud of about yourself. You're a unique person with your own story that no one else has. Also, if you can, talk to a counselor about your feelings. I know for me that counseling really helped me make a lot of progress because finally, I had someone that could help me make sense of all these emotions I had tied not only to food, but to my own self worth.
I hope you feel better soon. Just remember that YOU. ARE. WORTH. IT.

Did you know that you're the one and only You that this planet will ever see? The Earth has seen billions of cheesburgers, millions of cakes, buckets of bacon - but it will only ever see one You. You're unique and incredibly important, whether you realize that or not.
It sounds to me like you're experiencing some major blahs. It happens! But you know what won't ever make it better? Food. Food is fuel - that's it. If your car's engine was smoking and choking, would you fill it - and fill it - and fill it - with gasoline, hoping that more fuel would solve the problem? Of course not! You'd replace the parts that needed fixing - not overstuff it with fuel.
Don't overfuel yourself, either. What's going on that makes you feel sad and stressed? If you're not liking the way you look right now, maybe try buying a new, super cute, outfit! Do your make-up a different way. Get an eyebrow wax or a facial or a new hair style! Find one thing you like about yourself every day - negative self-talk has to stop right now! There are BEAUTIFUL things about you. Point them out to yourself.
When you feel those other stressors piling up on you, hit it with what I call the Three Ws.
Write it out! I blog here, and in private, about everything that upsets me. I don't eat my feelings and I don't hide them - not anymore.
Work it out! You'd be surprised at how powerful you feel after picking up some heavy stuff. Use some hand weights, or use your own body weight, and do a quickie strength training routine. Push and grr and lift! I even sometimes vent, "Stupid traffic... CUT ME OFF WILL YOU!?" I promise - you WILL feel better.
Wash it out! I bought some really lavish, super good smelling body wash/bubble bath to use only on my "super stressed out" days. After I have my little strength boost, I take a nice, hot shower or bath with my special stuff. It's super relaxing! And it's a better way of taking care of yourself than stuffing your face. :D
You're not alone, and you are more worth the effort than you will ever realize. We're always here for you!

I completely empathize with your issues with stress-eating - I do it too (although it's more under control now than it has been in the past). Here are a couple of tricks that I use to prevent stress-eating:
1. Eat small meals every 3-4 hours (usually 200-300 calories each). Some people HATE this way of eating, will tell you it's terrible, you need to eat a full meal, so on and so forth. However, I've found that, for me, when I know my next "meal" is so soon, it's easier to talk myself out of the donut or cookie or whatever it is that my stressed out brain is trying to convince me to eat.
2. I force myself to track a stress-food BEFORE I eat it. This one took a while to get used to, but now that I do it all the time, it helps me stop before I start (or, if I'm dead-set on having whatever it is that I want, it gives me the opportunity to adjust the rest of what I have planned for the day to make room for it in my calorie allowance).
3. Anything I use as a stress-crutch, I don't keep in my house. Example: when I'm upset, I can easily eat an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's by myself in one sitting. So I don't keep Ben & Jerry's in the house. You can't eat what's not there, and in the time it takes to go out to a store to get it, you're likely to calm down and realize you don't need it after all.
As for feeling like you're not worth the effort, you need to figure out WHY you feel that way in order to get past it. You ARE worth it - everyone is, there's not a single person on this planet who isn't ''worth" the effort it takes to be healthy - but I'm not going to be able to fix your self esteem for you on a message board, no one is. If this is an ongoing problem for you, some sessions with a therapist could be really helpful (I made use of my college's free counseling services in undergrad, and it made a world of difference in my life).
