Make sure there is no leading punctuation or an accidental space?
I just went into the recipe calculator and typed "ground beef" (without the quotation marks) and clicked Search. The first three choices are: Ground beef, lean Ground beef, extra lean (15% fat) pan broiled Ground beef
There are a few user entries, and then further down are some more SP entries (93%, 80%, etc).
Wherever possible, try to use the generic Spark entries. Becky once said those are entered directly from .gov databases and include ALL nutritional information. User entries only include what is on the label, which often omits the nutrients that are not required to be printed on labels.

Are you on the SparkRecipes.com site? I just checked there, and when I'm in "create a new recipe", hit the "add an ingredient" button, type in "beef" and hit search, then the first thing that comes up is ground beef (along with a bunch of other different options".
If you're on the Nutrition Tracker, and type in "beef" under the "Search" tab, then you have hit the "Search" button for ground beef to come up (it doesn't show in the list of suggested items that appears while you're typing).
If neither of these is working for you, then there may be an issue with your browser or virus protection (I've had some ad-blockers prevent all of the actual data-base info from showing up).
I'm not sure how you're searching -- ? I've entered ground beef in several different ways. Try searching again with the start "meat". I could give you the whole search string, but SP cuts off anything after punctuation, so it wouldn't help. When you are using the search box, click on the member entries tab underneath. I'm not certain that's the title... but you should be able to figure out which one. I think you can also search by member name.... there's a box somewhere you can enter that info. If you find it, enter my username. You should come up with hundreds of custom entries. If I've entered them I've done so from the nutrition label on the foods, and I enter EVERYthing available on that label. I also use another database of foods, and I enter everything available from those, too. No abbreviated entries if I've entered them.
I'll go to the search and see if I can get better details for you. Honestly, once you figure that out, it's simple!
EDIT====== Okay, I went and checked the search on the nutrition tracker page. I had no luck there using "meat" or my username. Then I went to the recipe builder page, and clicked the "search manually entered items" (or whatever they call it)... and got all my entries. There is an option there for searching shared entries, but that didn't work on the nutrition tracker page. On the recipe page, I did get all of the things I'd entered in that search. You can also pick from your favorites, but I didn't do that. I'm not sure if the "manually entered" option ONLY gives the ones *you* have entered, or what.
I hope some wise SP staffer can help us here. And I know I've searched by member name before, but I don't remember how I did it, and can't seem to work it out now. I entered my username in the search box and got nuthin'.
Now I'm curious too. Help us!
