I totally understand your frustration, as I've been there myself. I keep having to remind myself that I did not get overweight in a week, or 10 days, or a few months. It was a long process. Yet for some reason, I seem to expect to lose weight in a very short time frame?

Hmmmmm ... something to think about. We seem to be creatures that expect immediate gratification (guess I should only speak for myself)!! :-)

Also, can't tell from your ticker where you're at and where you've come from weight-wise, so just know that the closer you are to your goal weight (in other words, the fewer pounds you have to lose), the more slowly they come off. If somebody has lots of weight to lose, they will often start off losing 2+ pounds per week, but it always slows down.

Whatever you do, don't give up. It WILL happen if you continue your healthy lifestyle!!

i get it- i totally have a spreadsheet tracking my deficits and what i 'should' lose v. what the scale shows- for example it says i should be down 7 lb by now but the scale is showing 5. whatever.

healthy choices and actions are making you healthier, regardless of whether the scale moves! do try what other posters have suggested and try to focus on non-scale victories!

It can be soooo frustrating when you work really hard and the scale doesn't co-operate. But we have to remember to use other measurements than the scale. The number on the scale does not define us. We should not allow it to rule us. So we need to look at how we are feeling otherwise. How are we sleeping? Does our hair shine more? Does our skin glow more? Do we feel more positive. Healthy eating and exercise should help us become healthier. Keep that in mind, and don't give up. You CAN do it!

I've been a type I diabetic for 46 years and have recently (as well as over the years) been re-educated in the measurement piece. I am on an insulin pump and wear a glucose monitoring device which works well. I must say I am pretty close when it comes to the measuring. Thank you for your input. It helps!

It can take as much as 6-8 weeks for healthy lifestyle changes to show up on the scale, especially when you're adding or intensifying exercise.

10 days is just getting started. :) There will be weeks you lose, weeks you don't, maybe even weeks you gain. Weight loss isn't a linear process. Remember that it's all about your food intake... make sure you're eating enough to support your active lifestyle, while maintaining a calorie deficit. Are you weighing and measuring everything?

Sometimes, especially if you've lost some weight already, you'll hit a plateau and stay the same for a while. I have had some that lasted just a week or so, and some that lasted a month. Don't give up, just keep eating well and moving more, and the rest will follow.

For the past 10 days I have not wavered on the diet. I have grown to like taking an extra vegetable and some fruit with every meal. I have overdone it a little on the steps getting between 12,000 and 14,000 daily, but that is because I am on vacation and have the time. Normally, I do manage about 10,000- 12,000/day. I am making myself drink a full glass of water with each meal. I got on the scale and it doesn't seem to have budged hardly at all. This is what is frustrating. I'll keep it up.

I do have a sedentary job and have to force myself to get up and walk. I always take the stairs and never the elevator unless I have to. I hope I don't get discouraged!
