they're not low-carb per se but they are formulated not to spike insulin and there's no artificial sweeteners added - IMO they are pretty much the best bars on the market - www.vpxsports.com/muscle-building-suppleme

I don't eat protein bars. They don't satisfy my appetite.

I buy protein bars occasionally to keep in my purse if I am out and caught without other food options. I just tried a Nugo bar which I thought was very good and filling and had a nice texture to it. Expensive at 2 dollars, but good enough that I would buy a couple and keep them around for back up snacks.

Do either of you have recipes you can share? and have you tried freezing them ever?

I am not actually on the Atkins diet I just don't get enough meat in me sometimes so its to supplement not eating enough meat.

ya the first bar i tried today the promax one i coughed for 30 minutes after I got done eating it, so i must be allergic to something it. i dunno.....it went down fine and tasted fine.

I was going to suggest trying to make your own also.

I haven't had much luck finding protein bars I like that aren't loaded with other crap

Don't feel bad about the Atkins bars. I tried one once (my local CVS sells them individually) and I thought the thing tasted vile. As in, even t hough I paid $2 for the stupid thing, I couldn't even finish half. Had to throw it away.

Protein bars are all pretty much the same; the main things to check for on the label are the sugar content, and since you're on Atkins, the carb count. Otherwise, the only real difference is flavor, and what tastes good to me won't necessarily be good to you. Protein bars can vary wildly by brand and flavor.

Personally, these days I vastly prefer to make my own. Cheaper, tastier, and I can control what goes in them... no frankenfoods.

Was wondering what protien bars people were using that they liked that would be suitable for a low carb diet and Atkins similar diet.

these are 3 that i bouight today at the grocery store to try this next week.

pure protein

detour lean muscle

and a promax lower sugar bar

I know you can buy the actually Atkins bars but they don't have those single only by the box.
