If you have an iPhone or iPod, there is an app called Zombies Run! May not be exactly what you're looking for, but I love the app nonetheless.

There are all kinds of free programs you can google online that show you the best way to prepare for a 5K. I just started to run recently and have been just increasing my steps each time. So I run a similar route and just try to add on each time... it worked for me until I got bored with the same run and started to track it on a jogtracker app on my phone... now i just try to increase that way. I would suggest running 3-4 days per week.
