Omron makes good quality pedometers that are high recommended by users. They are a little more pricey than some other manufacturers, but their known for their accuracy.

I have an Omron HJ-303 which measures motion across three planes for more accuracy.

If you are willing to spend a little more (ok, a lot more) you can get a Fit Bit. It is essentially a pedometer but also reads stairs climbed, activity level, estimated calories burned and such. It rings in at $100 on Amazon, but also has a supporting computer and internet fuctions. It also updates to your login every time you are close to ANY Fit Bit station, not just the one hooked into your own computer.

I have a new lifestyles pedometer - google their website. They are more expensive than any other one I have found BUT.....they are extremely accurate AND I have mine for 10 years. All I do is change the battery. The only place you can buy them is on their website - I buy them for gifts now all the time. I am about to replace mine only because all of the words have worn off the outside!!!

thanks for the positive remarks. I am really struggling right now with lots of issues in my life. Being stressed turn to food and not exercising. Which I should totally be doing the opposite. I posted your positive remarks where I can see it everyday.

If you go by the way side on an eating bing, just get up and start again. I always say I will be on a diet for the rest of my life because I love food. But since Spark People I can eat the right foods and not get out of control. Keep up the good work no matter what people say about you. Love yourself. Do it for yourself and no one else. This keep me going.

I want to purchase a pedometer. Can you steer me in the direction of a good brand or a good one. I want to start walking. I feel if I have a pedometer to track my 10,000 steps a day...I will be more apt to exercise.
