WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Welcome to Spark. You have taken an important step on your journey by joining! I've been a member a little over 3 years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained a lot of the pounds back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going! Explore the site, make your Sparkpage if you havenít, join teams, and make friends. You will find this site an amazing place full of encouragement, inspiration, advice, and support. We are here to keep everyone motivated. Iíve found that the best source of motivation on spark is posting, asking questions, and finding new friends that are in this together. We are all on this journey of a healthy live style, so your not alone in this. People need someone to believe in them. They need to know that if they take that first step out of their comfort zone, someone will be supporting them all the way. With small words of encouragement, with just a little extra time, that someone could be you. In some cases, others may just be unaware of their true abilities and potential. You are definitely starting out on the right foot! Giving up sodas were a big thing for me....now all I drink is water and maybe an occasional sweet tea! You will find tons of support on this site, and the articles are very very helpful. We are all in this boat together. Read the message boards and don't be afraid to ask for help. I just re-joined after being gone for a couple of years. I need to get back on track myself. We are all here to support each other. I am taking it slow myself.....this is a life style change. We didn't put all of this weight on overnight....message me any time!

Hi, I am new to spark-people! i am hoping this website can help me with my weight-loss. I am really giving it an effort since the last time I weighed and came to the realization i am 100 lbs overweight! I have been told different things like "don't eat dairy","don't eat fruit", "Don't buy anything that is processed" Then I have read just the opposite both by certified personal trainers i know. I also don't eat enough from what I have been told on here, and i have a hard time finding snacks that aren't processed to eat. I'm a beginner at all of this and don't want to be so overwhelmed i just decide i'm going to be fat the rest of my life. I've also heard that just removing one thing at a time is a good idea. so like this month i have cut all sweetened drinks, no soda(i actually can't stand carbonation anymore) , and fried foods. those are my two biggest downfalls, and i think if i can get past those, i can do better with everything else as i go. I just want to be healthy, and i'm determined to be, its just so much information to take in! Has anyone ever heard of any of these things or how i can still be healthy and take it slow. Just looking for some people to help me sort through some of this.
