This is why I hate to go out to eat with my Dad. He always complains out loud. He bangs his coffee cup when he wants more. Has nothing to do with his age he has always thought people could read his mind. Just like the couple No Patience.

Definitely rude but I agree with the poster who said "her mother in law says things out loud now that she wouldn't say 10 years ago", maybe this couple is in that category. Trust me though when I say, what goes around comes around....I am sure it will come back to haunt that couple.

That was rude.
There is a trade off when you go to a small restaurant where everything is made fresh. Sometimes it takes a little longer. Since they don't buy big tubs of frozen onion rings and pizza dough from corporate.

sounds to me as if they'd have been happier going through McDonald's drive-through.

This is where my "hoof and Mouth" disease kicks in, because, to my husband's chagrin, I always stick up for the underdog and don't hesitate to tell people like that to cool their jets. People can't risk losing their jobs to stand up to rude people. When I see it happening, I stand up for the person being belittled. I also work with the public, and I sure appreciate when other people tell the offenders to treat me with respect. I don't put up with much, but I also know it can backfire.

not sure on the tip, but I sure hope they left her a big one because the server was old and a sweet heart.... There was just no excuse for that kind of behavior..

Either or both patrons could be suffering from a mental condition. Low blood sugar can often cause a person to become mean or irate. Often one or both will become loud and obnoxious as to cause attraction to themself "advertiseing" what They Don't like within earshot of everyone. Yes, this is Rude both to the server and other patrons hearing their rantings. When I worked waitressing at a mom and pop resturant, the best advice they gave me was to treat all customers as if they are childlike. Works every time! Kudos to their server! Hope since they enjoyed the food after it arrived, they rewarded the server with a huge tip!

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Some people are just chronic complainers. They aren't happy unless everyone else around them is miserable. I'd say the waitress has probably dealt with these types of people before. She handled it well by ignoring their tantrums.
See, I can understand when a child throws a tantrum. They're just looking for attention and don't know any better. There is an assumption that once you reach a certain age, you should know better. But, apparantely, that couple didn't. They tossed a tantrum just like any other 4 year old.
Some people really can be that oblivious.
I wonder what kind of tip they left. hmm.....

I waitress part time. And I do not make enough money to put up with that kind of behavior. This is why this kind of rudeness goes on. Is because we allow it, there are way to get your point across in a professional manner.
Sometimes people lose the "filter" between their brain and their mouth as they age. My mother in law says things out loud now that I don't think she ever would have 10 years ago.
Kudos to the waitress...some people can just let that stuff roll off their backs. Maybe she did something to their onion rings

Rude indeed! I actually deal with people like this all day long at my full time job. I schedule people for free hearing tests. In certain areas, there's a longer wait due to limited appointment availability. Many customers have become outraged (swearing, screaming, and even name calling) when I offer an appointment, say, in April. And then they get mad when I offer to refer to another place to get a hearing test sooner but they will have to pay for it. And for this abuse I got a teeny, tiny raise and still (barely) love paycheck to paycheck.
To sum up, I wholeheartedly agree that Americans have become a society where they need IMMEDIATE gratification. It's awful and embarrassing.

Some people are just like that. They love to live their lives belittling others. That is the only way they can feel superior, but when it comes down to it, they have a very low self esteem. I quess all we can do is pray for that type of person.

Your right, that was very rude and uncalled for, if I had been there, it would have bothered me too! Life is hard enough, why make it harder on anyone, but yet some do. I hope they get back some of what they have served out, all I can say about that couple.

We went to a restaurant and it's what I'd call a mom and pop place, there was an older greek woman that served us and there was another couple there they got there shortly before us as they were just being seated when we walked in. So we ordered and everything is made fresh as you order and the Greek lady was so sweet and I'd say we were sitting there for like 10 minutes and the male of the other couple (he was probably about 60 to 65 yrs old) got up and was looking for the lady and was livid that they hadn't gotten their food yet and you could hear the wife saying go in the kitchen and get her. He didn't but you could hear the lady saying we should just get up and leave, what is taking so long and we couldn't get over how loud and obnoxious they were. So the server came out with their pizza and the lady customer says out loud "OH THERE SHE IS I THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD"! and so this sweet Greek woman brought the pizza and she said boy it sure takes you a long time to make the food here, really cocky. The woman said we make everything fresh, the woman asked for their appetizer and she said it's cooking I'll be right back, she brought out their onion rings which were massive the looked like bracelets! Now that couple had said they had to go to an appointment and they weren't in any rush once the food came and sat there for a good 40 minutes once they got their food and then she was giving compliments to the greek woman oh the food is so good here and the pizza is just the way I like it. I know the Greek woman heard all the mean things she was saying, I give her credit for not going off on them but I would of loved to of seen her let that female customer have it when she said oh there she is I thought she was dead... I just don't see what the big deal was they got the food within 15 minutes, everything was fresh , everything was over sized and the food was excellent. Are we just so use to we want everything right this minute? I mean I didn't see that they had a long wait and she wanted him to go into the kitchen within 10 minutes....and you had to see this mans face when he was looking for the server, he looked enraged.... I just don't get why some people have to be so rude....
