I don't like bananas so that is not an option for me.

Ice cream is not off limits for me.

The Walmart (Great Value Brand) sugar free ice cream sandwhiches are delicious. They are 110 calories apiece. Nothing wrong with banana smoothies but I still have no intention of ever giving up ice cream and see no need to even consider it.

It's too cold this time of year for me to want to eat ice cream.

Skinny Cow and WW make excellent ice cream treats in pre measured servings. No temptation to take a larger portion, scooping from a big container. Healthy Choice has come out with frozen greek yogurt. It freezes creamier than regular yogurt.

Both my husband and I really like frozen yogurt. That's our "ice cream" substitute. We have found that ice cream is just too rich for our system. We don't eat it often but we have it as a treat.

I agree all things in moderation. I found out I will stick to eating healthy if I can have a little something I really like. I try to makeover unhealthy things to healthy. We have got to lose the diet mentality.

Good idea, but only if you love bananas............I buy Skinny Cow products, when on sale, and ALWAYS have some in the freezer, especially the plain fudge bars. Or w/w brand, there are several brands out there, and OFF brands, too. Wal Mart brand makes a good ice cream sandwich, where the sandwich part tastes like the real ones do, and I think one is 80 or 90 calories, you just account for it. Never say never...........

I eat ice cream. Usually only a 100 calorie serving at a time (about a half cup of low fat ice cream). I love it and see absolutely no reason to even think of giving it up. I also love McDonald's low fat vanilla cones....about 160 calories.

I have been maintaining my 80 lb weight loss for many many years. So I don't plan to start listening to any of the nay sayers who keep saying no ice diet soda no this, no that. I have whatever I want in moderation. I have mostly given up things like cake with frosting and pies because they are so loaded with calories you don't get to eat much else if you eat that. But low fat ice cream is not that bad at all to include in your daily quota.

heh. I eat ice cream pretty often. I just measure out my servings. I love ice cream way too much to give it up. LOL

I go for some frozen yogurt... or just freeze a container of fruit yogurt... and then hold the outside long enough for it to slip out onto a plate (obviously need to select a brand that is wider at the top than the bottom... or cut the container off.

It tastes fantastic.... and because it is frozen SO SOLID it takes a long time to eat it.

Satisfies my desire for something cold and sweet.... and by the time it is finished, my body has figured out it has eaten it, so I'm not hungry any more... :)

Great idea about the banana. I used to eat chocolate covered frozen bananas but I know that wasn't very healthy.

I felt like i had discovered this fact but i'm starting to see reference to it on the TV. Ok, we can't have ice cream!!! but we are allowed fruit every day!!!!. what i did was mash my banana (with dots) to use it for a smoothie and froze it to save the banana( they are getting expensive)
I discovered that after it softened a little it tasted just like banana ice cream! then i started using this treat for my evening snack. sometimes i add a tbs of walnuts to it and it is awesome.
you can get very creative using either a half or whole mashed banana... enjoy... emoticon
