NCRAGG, I can't tell you how many times I have stuffed myself in my lifetime. Countless times! What you gotta do is pick yourself up, dust off the crumbs, and do your best tomorrow. Whatever you do, stick with Sparkpeople. Get daily emails. Read the great articles. Sooner or later things click. That is literally what happened to me. A specific Sparkpeople email grabbed my attention and I've been hooked ever since.

Spark On!

NCRAGG, you don't need to follow the Spark Diet per se. I never did follow any diet. What I did was this: I religiously used the Nutrition Tracker and made sure that I didn't exceed the bottom line ranges for calories, carbs, fat, and protein. I just did my own thing healthily: brown rice, chicken, you get the picture. My daily mantra was to not exceed those numbers. Within nine months I had transformed myself into a lean machine. The Nutrition Tracker is the way to go. Learn it, live it, love it, and you will transform yourself, too. FYI, my husband didn't participate either.

Spark On!

I agree with both of the other posts--

1. You could cook for yourself once in a big portion and then have it divided into smaller portions ready to go for the future.

2. Lighten up some of your other meals that you ordinarily make.

The SparkPeople diet plans (suggestions for meals) are just that--suggestions. You could just use them as ideas to spark your own planning. If you log your food you'll still get a printout at the end of the day saying what your food breakdown was (nutrients, fat, etc.)

Do what you can do and don't worry about the rest. Every little step truly counts!

Good luck on your journey. emoticon

Often you can lighten a favorite recipe and he won't notice... cut the amount of sugar or fat, use skim milk instead whole, low fat cheese instead of full fat. Then fill your plate with smaller portions of the protein and carbs, and fill the rest with fruits and veggies. When you start tracking, you will see the difference... 1/2 cup of rice, versus a full cup, 3 oz of steak instead of 6 or 8... Sometimes spouses make it harder, but you just have to do this for yourself! And if you have to cook a separate meal, do it, and dont' feel badly. You can grill a piece of fish while his burger or steak is grilling. Or just remove the skin from your chicken. With any luck, he will realize that he should also eat healthy.

Let us know how it goes!!!
