WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. I have been here a little over 3 months and am happy to say I am a SPARK Addict and I don't want the cure! I have no doubt that I will meet the goals I have set for myself!

Hi, I have been hearing about Sparkpeople for quite some time, and I finally decided to join. I am so glad that I did! I love the food tracker, it has really been helping me to make better choices, I am still a bit afraid to step on the scale...last year I began a "diet pill program" through a local Dr, and every month I would check in, and cry because I wasn't losing any weight! I even gained one month! The young PA that would "council" me just looked at me in horror, like she couldn't comprehend WHY I wasn't losing any weight! If only I'd do their food recommendations! If only I'd walk each day! When I had to really look deep inside myself to understand that even with these "miracle" pills, I wasn't doing the work...I wasn't ready to do the work...I had to stop going to the "diet doctor" because my beloved doggie was diagnosed with malignant melanoma on her tongue, and I couldn't afford both treatment plans...it also dawned on me that I didn't need to spend 125$ a month, on drugs that could potentially harm me, I could do it all on my own(lose the weight, not harm me!) ...I had gone to this "diet doctor" quite a few years ago, lost a TON of weight, but as soon as the pills were done? I went right back to the horrible eating habits, and binging that I've always done...My Dog did well for a few months, we opted for an Holistic treatment, and I believe it bought her several more months of happy life...sadly, the tumor got the best of her and I had to put her to sleep...I've since thought, OK, I can go back to the Diet Doctor and in a few months I will be thin....but I realized that was the "quick fix" the NON-LASTING fix... nothing will work for me, not drugs, not weight watchers...until I look deep inside and figure out why I overeat, why I don't exercise....which sparkpeople is seeming to help me do. I have been very honest while logging in food and exercise...I know what to do to get the life I desire, I just have to do it! The blogs I've read, the pages I've looked at, are full of so much inspiration. I've been moved to tears several times reading people's beautiful transformation stories, inside and out transformations...I can't wait to share mine. I would write more, but I am at work and have to get to it!
