DIPS!!! You can make a really good one out of non-fat plain Greek yogurt. It turns out to be about 16 calories per two tablespoons.
Per half cup-half tsp garlic powder, half tsp onion powder, 1 tsp dillweed, dash of salt, dash of pepper. Mix well. 60 calories for the entire half a cup and that's a LOT of veggies!!! (depending on the brand)-plus-it's YOGURT.
Make a veggie trya ro munch throughout r the day on like carrots,, celery, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes etc. Watch the dips though.

There are 3 things I eat when I have that need... 1) atomic fireballs (sounds crazy but they last forever) 2) Werthers sugar free hard candies 3) sugarless gum...I like the dessert flavors like chocolate mint chip and apple pie
Herbal tea!!! Especially if you can find a fennel or star anise or ginger tea. It will rehydrate you and is good for you. As of right this minute, I'm sipping on hot water with fresh ginger root-no sweetener.

Sugarless things (like hard candies) sometimes use sugar alcohol, which have 1/2 the calories of normal sugar but retain some of the physical properties- they aren't technically sugars or alcohols, but they don't impact you the same way that aspartame or other artificial sweeteners do. It's something to look into... because if you don't like gum but need something in your mouth :P
You could just constantly be munching on veggies. Carrots, celery, bell peppers, whatever works. Those will fill you up though, and they do have some calories- but you can then eat less veggie at meal time and use meal times to eat the other stuff you need in your day. It's a suggestion, because I can't think of anything else besides just fighting the need to chew and avoid eating.
Have you tried drinking water and moving more? I find I have less need for something in my mouth when I drink a glass of water and then do something to occupy my time with an "end goal." Like specifically setting a goal- like "finish x homework problems" or "clean the living room thoroughly"
I feel I eat sometimes just for the need to chew... I have tried gum, but it makes me feel sick after awhile. If someone has an idea, let me know. Hard candy works, but, I rather not the calories.. and the sugarless , I am trying to stay away from phony sugars. Ideas?
