I found your posts to be similar to what I am thinking at times.. it's all about choices.. and those voices in our heads! Hang in there... you're definitely on the right track and you'll be successful... There was a great Non Sequitur comic in Sunday's paper that shows a little kid jumping off a very high dive and an old man making the landing. The caption says, "It's not the size of the splash you make, but the joy you find along the way." I liked that a lot.

well yesterday was interesting in that I had something I have not had in so long, a bagel! Probably not the best decision as it triggered that carb craving that i try so hard to keep at bay. I find it interesting that I really can't eat certain things without going overboard. This process feels frustrating but I am not going to give up. I saw a picture of myself from last year around this time and I can see the weight in my face. As long as this process takes and as frustrated as it may seem, it is me that is causing all the ups and downs and I have to keep that in check. I found a good quote for today that speaks to this... “If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.” ~Jack Dixon

RBRASHER-Not sure that wise would correctly describe me but thanks for the compliment!

Yesterday I went over my calories, thought I could have my cake and eat it too emoticon In the end I should have planned a little better if I was going to include dessert, a lesson learned and one to remember. Found a quote today on the internet: "Motivation is what gets to you started. Habit is what keeps you going".

I think you are wise. I should probably follow your advice to yourself! I'm doing the same thing so with perseverance, we'll be well on our way to skinny-mini's (as my mother would say) in no time!

I can say yesterday was a pretty good day. I made some sound decisions when eating and I did some weight training at home which was great! Still went over 1200 but remained within the 1550 so that is an accomplishment. Today I heard a great quote that I need to make my daily chant "sometimes the only person in your way, is you..so get out of your own way".

Thanks Jibbie, and thanks for sharing your quote a good one to remember and add to my list.

So what didn't work yesterday happened to be waiting too long to eat lunch and therefore I ended up making some poor choices. I could have done better but I didn't let myself stop and listen to that annoying voice in my head that kept saying just grab an apple to hold you over until you can eat a healthy lunch. Yeah so another day today to pay attention that voice in my head. Another quote I came across that I enjoyed and hold onto is "You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there." I have to keep moving if I want to reach the goal I set for myself!

Good quote.

My favorite one is

"The hardest thing in life to do is to make yourself do those things you want to do and to keep yourself from doing those things you don't want to do."

So not rewarding yourself with food certainly falls under this quote when you don't want to do it.

I agreed that if i was going to do this right then I was going to post on the message board even if no one other than myself reads the post. My goal is just to post each morning a little reminder of what I am working on, what is working and what is not and then of course to boost myself with a little motivational statement if I can find one that I like that day. I once read a quote at my gym that said "don't reward yourself with food, you are not a dog!" Oh how true that is. Today I will stay on track with my calories and getting my works out in, but I will not reward myself with food, I will reward myself with not feeling disgusted at the end of the day :-)
