no dr yet, seems like a little swelling due to over use.
i'm iceing it...it helps.
acetametifin helps.
resting it...i gotta start working out soon tho before i start freaking out!

May I recommend some non-knee alternatives that work for me?
-- exercise ergometer, using arms -- it is aerobic with no knee strain
-- chair yoga
-- walking taking weight on walking poles
-- upper body strength training, sitting or lying down
-- abdominal strength training

great idea. I'm down 30lbs to 151. my goal is 145 but i'm having troule with the last 6 and i can't get my workouts more intense due to my knee...i'll keep working and thanks for your encouragement. patrick

a few years ago, I fell on black ice and damaged my right knee , had to get Arthroscopy which did the trick...but I still felt the weather...and had to be careful.
What really helped me was losing some weight.
When I consider folks who get workouts from chairs...I know I have no excuses.
If you can join in with pool aerobics...go for it.

I changed from Curves to swimming because of pain in my right knee I should have it replaced but who has time for that?

At my age, everything hurts so if I find a joint that doesn't, I celebrate. LOL

my knees hurt many years ago. since I have regular exercise it's getting worse. I usually have the protecting things on my knees wen I exercise. and try to take rest if my knees are pain. I like walking but it's bad to knees. so hard to balance.

Ooooo...that doesn't sound nice! :(

My problem was fairly simple (the patella hits the femur...) and the "brace" the nurse gave me didn't do any good since it didn't fit my patella right! The PT showed me how to tape it instead--pain almost gone! AND gave me the targeted exercises to strengthen the correct muscles to help re-align it.

Again, hope yours isn't anything too serious either. Knee problems aren't something I'd wish on anyone!!

thanks! my Ex is a PT but she hates ortho so she's worthless in this situation...she started to poke it like PTs will do and i had to stop her about 5 times! pain and torture...they love it

Good for you for already having made that appt!

If its something simple you might be back mostly pain-free in a few days. And if its more serious, the sooner it gets taken care of the better...

If I could wrap up my favorite PT person, I'd send her to you. She rates a "miracle-worker" designation in solving my knee issue! Hope your's goes as well....

I can SOOO relate! I have advanced osteoarthritis in my left knee (basically it is completely shot) and I have pain every single day. For me it is either grin and bear it or surgery. Right now I have decided to bear it.

When you go to the doctor, be careful about their advice. Most doctors will recommend surgery because they make a lot of money from it.

it's hard to get a good work out when you can't stand on you knee. i'm making an apt today, but ouch!
