I agree with AJRAGS.... I do have to say though, I haven't lost this weight in a year, or even two, or even three. I've been doing this since 2009, and even on and off before then. The reason why it takes so long is because it's about doing 1: what works for you as an individual, and 2: lots of trial and error. Either way though, this time has passed, and what I started in my early 20's will be reached in my late 20's. I've made my peace with that by appreciating that while I didn't lose this weight in a shorter amount of time, it was time spent working towards a healthier me.
Now. compared to the four years I've been working on this, four MONTHS seems like a very short amount of time-I mean we're halfway through February already! Where did that time go!? Like others have said, start small, and as you progress, the sheer fact that you'll feel better will make your motivation stronger, and you won't WANT to give up even after the wedding.
You can do this!

Start small- set small manageable workout goals for yourself- is that ten minutes a day? Is it thirty minutes twice a week? Is there a sport you enjoy or do you like workout classes? One thing that helps me when I'm doing my cardio of choice (elliptical) is to picture myself thinner- I imagine myself getting skinnier and stronger as I keep running. I also picture myself being back in shape for my wedding. Maybe you should try making a vision collage? You'll find a link to do that on your sparkpoints page I believe!

I don't know about you, but I find myself less and less motivated because I can't lose the weight tomorrow. So many success stories say that they lost 80 pounds in a year and I think to myself first, wow - great for them!, and second - a year! thats forever away, who has time for that!? We had a speaker in school last year talk about her decision to get her PhD. She said that when she thought about it, it was going to take 7 years from start to finish, it's gonna take to long, it sounds hard, blah blah blah... But then she thought to herself - in 7 years I'm going to be 7 years older - no matter what. Do I want to be 7 years older with a PhD or without...So you can think to yourself, The wedding is 4 months away - do I want to look the same way I do now and be mad at myself for not doing something about it when I had the chance and be )probably) miserable at the wedding.... Or - Do I want to look amazing, be happy, and have a blast! We all have choices to make...

It sounds like you want to lose weight to be more confident about how you look for your sister's wedding. How will that feel? Improving your health by making healthy choices is empowering and can be a lesson in mindfulness. More awareness and self-mastery is one of the things that motivates me.
Make a list of what you really want around your health and fitness changes. Think about how making those changes will make you feel. Choose a strategy and go for it!!

Motivation is different for different people. What drives YOU? I found a Biggest Loser type competition worked for me the first time I lost weight. But then I gained it back. This time I'm motivated by my health ( had some severe health problems last year) and my relationship with others. So what drives you is the question. If you read these message boards you'll find we're all driven by different things.
