One over indulgent day or even week of eating WILL NOT make or break your healthy lifestyle. As I tell all new members,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself was drink 8 glasses of water today, that's still a step in the right direction.
Good health isn't "all or nothing". Every little bit does make a difference. And well, the fact is, there will be days you eat more than others. It's going to happen and that doesn't make you a bad person or an unhealthy one. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy. A healthy lifestyle can include foods like crackers, French fries, cheese, etc... it's just a matter of being more mindful of your portions.
Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body. So, don't beat yourself up because you ate a bit too much last night. These things DO happen to healthy people.
What to do in future ? you ate the food. you log the food. You move on. Today, you do your best to be more mindful. If you eat right five out of seven days this week, you're still doing better than the average American.
To curb cravings, make sure you're eating plenty of high fiber foods. Keep eating extra servings of fresh fruit and veggies when you can. The natural sweetness of the fruit will help decrease any cravings you have for sugary treats. And why can't you ask your parents to buy some more fresh fruit ? Have an apple whenever you have a craving. Keep eating those apples until you're sated. I have yet to meet the person who could binge eat apples. You may even want to put a small bit of peanut butter on that apple for the added protein. Protein will also help keep you full for longer.
If you're bored, you need to find a hobby. Read a book. Paint a picture. Do something to keep yourself busy so that you don't feel an urge to eat. When your mind is busy, you won't think about food. I know you probably need the break from your college courses, but studying can help keep you busy. Why not get a jump on some of your upcoming classes ?

Hi There... first of all sorry you haven't had a response in over a day. Did you think the Mayans might have been right?
I join you in having difficulty at night when I'm bored and there is junk around. We've had a lot of that over the month. What is helping me is planning my meals out. I sat up late going through back issues of my Clean Eating magazines (you can get that at Walmart or any major bookstore) and scheduling my meals/snacks for the first week of January. I started tracking my food for tomorrow for the first meal and snack of the day. Having a plan helps me stay on track.
Find other ways to workout without the shoes. There are a lot of free workout videos on the Health Lifestyles tab and I know there are no shoe options. Try yoga poses after your parents go to bed. That helps your flexibility, strength and is a very quiet way to workout. If i do any amount of yoga it makes me feel better about my body and I'm less likely to eat.
Drink plenty of water to help feel full. Make sure you get plenty of healthy fiber with your dinner - i.e. fruit and vegetables. I also plan for hot oatmeal late at night and that definitely helps me feel full and satisfied. It is a healthy way to cut my cravings.
It's always tough when you are at others houses. When you are further along on this journey, you could probably pass on the bad foods, but for now do the best you can. Try reaching for maybe a banana and some peanut butter, yogurt, fruit, plate of veggies to try to keep yourself from grabbing the bad food.
Also, make sure you are getting any and all exercise in. Even walking would be good, to help burn off any bad choices. Hopefully you will get back to your own place soon.

I know I am over my calories for tonight, but I can't stop! Crackers, bread, sweets, late at night. This happens too often, and I really want to do this this time. I would never have these foods in my own house - but I have been on winter break from college at my parents house and have access to bad foods I wouldn't normally let myself have. I don't have the kind of control to have these things around me. But what can I do? I can't tell them what they can't buy. I do go to the grocery store to get fruits and veggies and small meals for myself but the temptation is still there, and I am out of control of my cravings. What do you guys do to help curb your cravings? It is so hard to stay motivated and break this habit. I am also very bored here, and have no privacy to workout and don't have sneakers to run either! Being bored is very bad for my diet. So much pulling against me, but I feel like I should start today. =(
