Doing both on the same day sounds great. In fact, whenever I have worked with a trainer, they have encouraged me to spend 5-10 minutes on cardio before I do strength as a warmup, and another 5-10 minutes afterwards to cool down -- you could easily increase the warmup to 20 minutes and not be excessive.

As for strength training, you're fine as long as you give all body parts (upper body, lower body, core) 1-2 days of rest in between strength training sessions.

As for doing cardio and ST on the same day, one article I read on Spark says it's fine (as long as you're not doing lots of each), but that you should choose what you want your biggest focus on. That's because whatever you do second in the day will likely not be your strongest because you'll be more tired.

I think it depends on your goals...but that does not sound excessive to me for either. Cardio is just as important as ST and vice versa.

This doesn't sound excessive at all - I'd think 20 minutes of each is probably fine. I'm not sure which Spark article you're referring to (it'd be helpful if you could link to it), but I doubt 20 minutes of anything could create a state of being overworked (unless we're talking some kind of really super high-intensity training, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're looking to do).

I am just starting a workout routine with Resistance Bands because I think that is a great easy way to grow into dumbbells. I read in Spark to NOT over work a cardio AND strengthening because too much can cancel each other out. Would anyone care to give me advice at this time. I was wondering if I can do 20 minutes of Resistance Band and then maybe 20 minutes of treadmill the SAME DAY?
